Does anyone else think $240,000/yr for Monaghan is a trifle excessive?

a trifle? its a sh!t load way too much.
Monas is a good halfback, but is worth about 170k.
Monas should do 10 yrs at long bay jail for stealing!
Many should spend 2 yrs in a mental home for giving him that much.

Given what some of the other players are reported to be on at Manly, no. In the scheme of things as a non-representative halfback yet to play a significant role in the finals, yes.

If they could sign Orford, he'd make a great 5/8 or hooker.

You have to take into consideration Manly's record with him in the team, especially as captain, is exceptional. He is a rare find and although his football skills alone may not be worth 240k he is worth that much to the Manly club.

You seem to forget that Manly used a fair bit of last years cap to secure Kennedy and Kite, this forced the NRL to alter the rules of the salary cap. Watmough signed a 3 yr deal last year and Menzies is off contract next year.

LoL Kite was what $350k, Kennedy would be similiar...with Monas - there is close to 1 million...throw in Menzies and the like...

Or they have decided that in order to get Monaghan, Orford and King.They will have to get rid of Dunley and Randall for starters, with a few more to follow.

According to todays Herald Sun King is expected to sign with Melbourne today, so that would end a lot of the inuendo about Manly too. God I hope he does re-sign
