MNF worked well tonight because it was a game which carried a bit of interest. It's traditionally a firey clash which doesn't need a whole lot of hyping up.

When they start rolling out the Canberra vs Cronulla from Bruce, or Penrith vs North Qld from Panthers Stadium, then it's going to be average.

Personally, I think they should make it one of the trump games of every weekend.

i was at the game tonight and the members was rammed. it was 95% full, that is why the crowd was 24k. great turnout, the weather was sh*t, it was like walking through a pool on the way out through the car park

crowd was enthusiastic, there were still people coming in after 25mins. the people at the SFS did not expect such a late rush. which is f**king stupid, considering that most of us people who went work during the day and cant exactly get to the game at 5 on the dot. Getting there by 7 is a stretch, im sure some people who intended to come didn't when they saw the weather and how much work was on their desk after the weekend

Would've been 30k on a fine day

I don't think Monday night games are going to be the worst game of the round. I think I read somewhere (I think it was the SMH) that Fox Sports will make it their top game of the week (and will be the "third ranked" game after the 2 Friday night games on Nine).

Stop whining you blokes. It was a 2 hour trip from Parra, the highlight of which was 40 minutes spent in the "car park" on Anzac, the $40 per "premium" seat that actually wasn't undercover was a bummer, the $22 for each 4 beer shout hurt a lot, but it was all worth it. Actually, compared to a Foxtel $99 per month unlimited package it was....be right back....

game should start at 7.30pm in my opinion. Makes it easier getting to the game on time

Agreed. Went to the game and we were pushing it just to get there. In the end my mate drove and with 5 in the car we got the $5 discount for parking. We JUST made it ... 7pm is too early. Most would have missed the kickoff (which luckily started 10 minutes late).

Great atmosphere at the game, Souths played great especially their defence. Mind you the Roosters halves wouldnt have penetrated a 50 year old pornstar. Woeful performance from the Roosters, but Souths played pretty well ... Souths will do good this year. Well done lads.

OVP, spot on, most balls were straight down their throats. Why they didn't try and get a little one in behind is still bothering me.

monday night football is good every now and then but to have games on 4days every week is overkill, as a supporter it is terrible...go to work at 8am, finish work at 5 (no point heading home because footy starts at 7) goto footy, and get home by 10pm with work again the next day, crowds will dwindle as the season goes on

MNF works in the US because everygame is on sunday, with the 2 marquee games every round on SNF and MNF, friday night in the US is highschool football and saturday is all college football

Not any more, now the NFL plays Fri,Sat,Sun and Mon.

I thought the fox package was promising. Obviously it will get better as the weeks go by. Hopefully we see less of Gordie (luv ya Gordie but put 7 words together please) and more of the likes of Adrian Lam (he was good on NRL teams), Shane Webcke etc.

wouldn't that be seen to be a form of penetration? ;-)

I think Monday night matches will be more successful in Sydney and Melbourne than their Friday and Saturday night matches as there is sweet f**k all to do on a monday night. I look forward to finishing work on a monday and going to the football. Friday and Saturday nights are usually booked for going into the city and getting sh*tfaced for most people in Sydney and Melbourne.

i think the plan is to counter this with spreading the games around as much as possible.

As long as any one team doesnt have too many games i think it will stay reasonably fresh.
