Money is on the Eels

PARRAMATTA are likely to be installed as favourites for tomorrow night's blockbuster against the Dragons with the vast majority of punters banking on Jarryd Hayne and the Eels continuing their unlikely premiership charge.
In a stunning show of support for a team that looked dead and buried just eight weeks ago, the Eels have been backed heavily to beat competition favourites the Dragons.
"At this stage all the money is running in favour of Parramatta," TAB Sportsbet's Glenn Munsie said.
"And the interest has been fairly steady. The first bet we took was $6000 on Parramatta, then we took another bet of $10,000.
"They aren't friendless, St George, but it is certainly very hard to write a bet on them at the moment of any more than $1500."
In what would have been unthinkable just a month ago, punters have outlaid four times as much money on the Eels to beat Wayne Bennett's spluttering Dragons.
Despite opening up at $1.95 outsiders when markets opened yesterday, the weight of money could see the Eels installed as favourites today.
"At the moment the Eels are not favourites because there has only been $50,000 invested on the game but that could change," Munsie said.
Despite the money coming in for the Eels ahead of tomorrow's showdown at Kogarah, St George Illawarra were yesterday installed as outright favourites to win the premiership.
"Someone had $20,000 on the Dragons to win the comp," Munsie said. "So they are back to being outright premiership favourites which is a strange situation because punters are staying away for them on Friday night but they still think they can win the comp. Someone is willing to back $20,000 that they will do it."
And the battle to avoid the wooden spoon has taken an unexpected twist, with both the Sharks and the Roosters installed as shock favourites to win their respective games.
"Both of them have everything to play for, whereas the sides they are playing have nothing to play for," Munsie said.
"Ask any player and the last thing they want to do is win the wooden spoon."
As Cronulla play on Saturday night, the Roosters will know their fate by the time they play.

Well we know that now to be incorrect. TAB setting our boys at $1.95 against Dragons $1.85

You'd have to think that can only benefit us, that even after 7 straight we're still not going into a game as favorites. Pony up folks, probably your last chance to get nearly $2 on us for the rest of the year.

It did mention that in the article...
