I think that Newcastle and Souths will imporve out of sight for next season. I also think with their recruitment that Manly, Roosters and Tigers will be even better. St George, Cowboysand Parra will still dominate as their squads arent changing dramatically. Canberra will continue to be compeitive but not win that many games
However i believe a large number of teams will be going backwards in 06. I believe the big losers will be Melbourne, Warriors, Sharks and Penrith.
How can Melbourne possibily cover the loss of Orford, Bell and Kearns. They will be in for a dive.
The warriors are losing they key play maker in Stacey Jones, Kiwi winger Frances Meli and part time skipper Mony Beathem. With their limited recruitment i think that the veterans Price and Wiki will be wondering why they travelled across the ditch.
The sharks have lost a heap of experience, and some key players. Losing Peachy, Dykes, Stevens and Mellor will have a major affect on them. Sure they have Ben Ross, but he cant do it on his own. If you throw in the loss of Micheal Sullivan and Keith Galloway the sharks have lost a lot and havent gained much in Darren Albert.
Penrith will be the interesting one. They still have international wingers, a SOO fullback, a classy 5/8th and a Kangaroo half. However the centres remain a concern, and the loss of Ross, and Joe G will be signifcant. These guys will score plenty of tries when they cut out their centres.
On the Bulldogs i remain undecided. They have lost 5/8th Braith Anasta and bought a reserve grader from the dragons. Does that mean they will be worse off in 06. You would think not. They had so many injuries this season with Williams, Mason, Omealy, Sherwin, Tonga, Patten all out for extended periods. Any side that can look like this
1. Patten
2. El maseri
3. Tonga
4. Phelps
5. Utai
6. Holdsworth
7. Sherwin
8. O'mealy
9. Perry
10. Astosai
11. Ryan
12. Mason
13. Williams
will surely be competitive
