Mortimer holds Kearney's faith

DANIEL Mortimer at No.6 or No.7 that was the main news when Steve Kearney had his first official day as Parramatta Eels coach last week.Kearney said Mortimer would be one of the starting halves in the 2011 NRL premiership.
Such faith will do wonders for Mortimer's confidence after his troubled 2010 as part of the Eels' troubled 2010.
Parramatta beat off the Canterbury Bulldogs and signed Mortimer to a rich contract at the start of the season on the strength of his notable 209 debut season in the NRL.
Thereafter Mortimer struggled as the Eels struggled and he was targeted by opposition attacks.
It's months to the start of the 2010 season but optimism is one quality not lacking at the Eels after the incoming Kearney's coaching New Zealand to their 16-12 Four Nations Cup final win over Australia.
Meanwhile, departed coach Daniel Anderson is not the only casualty from the 2010 season.
Eels legend Brett Kenny has been sacked as Wentworthville coach after taking them to the NSW Cup finals but has been promised a role with the Eels in the NRL Cup.
By contrast, Matt Cameron, whose Eels finished last in 2010, has been retained as Toyota Cup coach.
Brett Cook is the new Magpie NSW Cup coach.
Cook has taken Wenty to the last two Bundaberg Red Cup premierships.
Aaron McDonald, who has been Wenty's NSW Cup and before that Premier League assistant coach for seasons, takes over as Bundy Cup coach.
Alex Chan, a long-serving front-rower at the Eels and other clubs, is Wenty's new A-grade coach.
