As long as it doesn’t affect their pay packets
It most certainly will, clubs want 12 home games a season, can't do that in a 22 round comp, have to be 11 home games to achieve that, besides only the cream of the crop get selected for state of origin, the rest (the bulk) get a rest anyways, same as finals half the comp rests for a month before heading into an Pacific championship, these guys pleading the athletes case are only using the 1% who want to be there anyways, its complete garbage, and another negotiation tactic to get more money for less work, same greedy pigs at the troph, just like last time

I actually think it is a great idea (assuming we cut the salary cap by that proportion)

put the extra cash into rep payments and promote that to players as the way to make the extra money.

Once we hit 20 teams, the balanced draw will be successful. For the sake of the draw, everyone is split into 1 of 4 divisions. You play everyone in your division twice (8 games), plus everybody else (15 games) for 23 games. 11 home, 11 away, with magic round. 4 week rep/bye window mid-season for the origin series, pacific challenge etc. When the NRL season pauses, you start the NRLW season in the prime timeslots and maybe put on NSW Cup/Qld Cup around the origin games.

Divisions can be made up through club preferences - traditional rivals and geographical reasons, plus good rating games.

Example divisions:
1: Wests Tigers, Penrith, Parramatta, Canterbury, Newcastle
2: Souths, Easts, Manly, Cronulla, St George
3: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Dolphins, North Queensland, PNG
4: Warriors, Melbourne, Canberra, Team 19 (Perth), Team 20(NZ2)

That’s the way….. group 4 teams will be pissed, but in reality, they have to travel anyway, so….

The Perth-NZ travel leg is quite a distance to make them do it twice. Not sure what the answer is, though

And there's the Sydney-centric system again.
