Bell mainly played 6 in his second stint at the club and the rest just aren't worthy...;-)

btw, Moran was predominantly a 14 at our club.

Bell was anointed the next Sterlo in his first stint at the club and while probably not worthy all were considered at some point in time as an answer to the Eels halfback woes.

Speaking of halves, I saw a rumour in the rumoured signings thread on the NRL page about John Morris possibly coming back to Parra. While he always had a go for us, i don't see how his signing would improve our squad. Does anyone know if that is true?

look Colonel, don't sh*t me..right!!

Sterlo was still at the club whilst Belly made his fg debut and then decided to walk away, you would only be anointed the next Sterlo at a post Sterlo era...

those are the rules, now if you have issues with that we need it in writing and address it to the Directors of the Sterlo society, our chairmen swifty, will present it to the board and present it to the 2 man panel involving offcourse myself and swifty.

He was the first player anointed as the next Sterlo, regardless of when he made his debut. The weeks following Sterlo's retirement he was refereed to as the Next Sterlo..... :D

Gary Freeman = wiz01

;-)

it's just an ego thing for Wiz, we offered it to him and then threw it back at our face as if to say that he didn't want to be associated with a bunch of winners so he started his own hall of fame but the only problem is that we're still waiting for wiz02 to be inducted after all these years.

LOL these "The Next Sterlo" threads remind me of a scene from Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' when they are searching for Roger and they all stand saying, "I'm Roger"

Will the next Sterlo please stand up.. please stand up.. please stand up..

Joke thread or not.. DUMB!!!

Wrong, when Bell first came into fg he was seen as the replacement for Sterlo, Bell was halfback for Parra when Sterlo was injured in 1989, then in 1990 he was moved to centre to accomodate him somewhere as Sterlo played pretty much much every game. Unfortunatelyhe didnt live up to it.

And im pretty sure Moran was halfback in the latter rounds of the 2000 season including the semi's?

yes, I realise that Ronny but if you read my post again, it clearly states that it's judged on the halfbacks in the post Sterlo era.

and i'm pretty sure Moran played off the bench and slotted in at dummy half and a little bit off halfback.

I thought he was the next Daniel Mortimer, dont put more pressure on the kid than is already there. He is doing well and has a very good chance at being great, lets leave it at that.

I'm just happy to see him given the chance. It wouldn't have happened under last years coach.

DA is doing just fine atm.

was thinking the same thing. we see too many promising eels 7s get loaded with the next sterlo tag. i hope this kid goes out and just plays how it comes instinctively to him rather than try to meet some unrealistic expectations.
