His contract for 2010 was upgraded before the prelim final last year.$250K is alot of money but I guess some of that compensates for an upgrade for 2010.
So if his original 2010 contract was $55000.
Then I would pay him
2010 - $150K
2011 - $200K
2012 - $200K
So take out his current contract then you get around $500K
It's a guess by a so-called journo for goodness sake!
'Reported' as pure speculation by another media outlet!
By this afternoon it will be gospel :?
Eventually one will be right but yes if you consider that there was probably a substantial upgrade for 2010 as well as 2011 and 2012 then that isn't quite as bad as reportedly $500,000 over two years.

Official Release: Eels confirm Mortimer signing

Parramatta Eels Mon, 08 Mar 2010 09:59:00
The Pirtek Parramatta Eels have received a massive boost on the eve of the 2010 NRL season, with star five-eighth Daniel Mortimer committing to the club for the next two years, with an option for a third.
Mortimer has reaffirmed his commitment to the Eels, ending speculation about the 20-year-old's future after strong interest from rival NRL clubs, in a show of support for the club which first signed him as a schoolboy. The new contract will keep Mortimer at Parramatta until the end of 2012, with the third-year option possibly keeping the Orange CYMS junior at the club until 2013. Pirtek Parramatta Eels CEO Paul Osborne believes Mortimer's decision indicates the strength of the Parramatta Eels club in 2010.
" This is terrific news for the club and it is an acknowledgement of the direction we're going in," Osborne said. "I think Daniel will be among some of the great players to have been at this club due to his attitude off the field, as well as on.
"To keep Daniel at the club has been the best possible start to the year we could hope for. "He has a wonderful family, is a terrific bloke, a great player and it's a huge boost to lock him down for possibly the next three years."
Coach Daniel Anderson is ecstatic to hold onto the 20-year-old Orange product, who will provide stability in the Eels' halves. "This is not only a huge boost for the team to have a player with Daniel's talent remain at Parramatta, but for the club to hold onto a person of the calibre of Daniel is just as important," he said.
"He is an integral part of this team and club, and at such a young age there is a lot of growth left in him. We will see even more of Daniel's ability in the ne xt two years and that is exciting for us as a club, and no doubt for the members and fans who will watch him every week."
Mortimer played 18 games in his debut season for the Parramatta Eels last year, scoring 10 tries.
I was quite shocked at the amount we signed him for
is this the bit where you tell yourself to stop worrying about the future and just be happy we have our 3 best players under contract? :lol:whilst I'm excited with the news, I was quite shocked at the amount we signed him for, all I say, is don't expect both KK and Feleti to be at the club next season, the dogs were out there to do a job and I think they've secretly achieved goal 1 in their quest for Mateo...don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the news but it will come at a price.
more importantly, bring on Friday night.

SMH said:Mortimer has a one-year option in his favour after knocking back an offer reportedly worth $500,000 a season from the Canterbury club

They offered him double?
Because they're guessing?
did you read the SMH article he also posted?did you ask them if they were guessing? or are you assuming they're guessing?...chances are they got the figure from the Dogs and I for one don't know whether they'd be telling the truth or throwing a curve ball but unless there's a denial by the club why should we think anything differently??
