I really don`t understand the hate for Jamie Lyon. If we`d had any coach other than Brian Smith, Lyon would still be with us. Remember when he first announced he was leaving he said, "I can`t play under Brian Smith". It was only later that he invented that story about being home-sick for the bush. Brian Smith has a lot to answer for, but always seems to escape serious criticism on this one. I watch with interest to see how his 'my way or the highway' attitiude unfolds at Easts.
And, by the way; I don`t think Lyon has had any problem with any coach since he parted from Smith. Give the guy a break. Smith is the real culprit.
The real culprit?

He was the coach. If the player doesn't like him there are other ways to deal with it.

Anyway, relying on players to give opinions on coaches is fraught with danger. I Didn't see Lyon having that much trouble with Smith in 2001, did you? Funnily enough, there were some concerns at the start of last year that some players didn't like Anderson's tough approach. And remember how much talk there was in 07 of how Hagan was a "good bloke and we are enjoying ourselves more". Winning always seems to solve any problems with the coach.

Blaming a coach is just as bad as saying you are homesick. Suck it up and act like a professional.

daris boyd just has to be the biggest nuffy wanker in the game at present, he's a nothing a no body who thinks he is the biggest name in the game.
And don't start me on that interview he gave last year.

Jamie Lyon takes up the first few places with expletives added. It was a low act to walk out on your mates... which takes me to the next few places $BW another tosser!

For the life of me I cannot understand any Eels fan who does not hate Jamie Lyon. Do you not remember what he did?
Yeah, he played in non-NRL games for the remainder of his Parramatta contract term, with our club choosing to stay in control for the duration of exactly which other competitions and teams he could join.

He played it by the book, asked (and was granted) permission at every step, and our club was apparently happy with those outcomes. A world of difference to the $BW situation.

Some things are better left unsaid. When you "hate' someone you give that person power over you.
I could never 'hate' a footballer trying his best for his Club, himself and his team mates. That's what sport should be about.
