Most 'listenable' to CD of all time....

Firstly, let me define Listenable. A CD which you would

a) Listen to frequently
b) Not skip any songs
c) Have regularly played for a sustained period of time

For mine, 90% of my CDs fail one of the above three categories. I'm sure it is the same for you guys and girls as well. However, a few rare ones do not, namely:

- Franz Ferdinand - Damn by golly what a top notch album from first track to last. I may be biased but this band could just about be anything

- No Code (Pearl Jam) - Killer. One of the first CDs i really listened to regularly and still love it. The second half of the CD is brilliant

- Elephant (White Stripes) - I may receive hate for this but I've hardly pulled this CD out of the CD player since I bought it

- Eternal Nightcap (Whitlams) - Another slightly odd selection but the CD for mine is gold, whether you hate or dislike Tim Freedman

There are more but I will not bore. 20,000 RSL from Midnight Oil and the Best of Smashing Pumpkins are two others that are highly listenable to but may not exactly fit the above criteriums....

Fire away!

Cheers,
Moffo

Images and Words (Dream Theater) - I could pop this CD into the player anytime and still love every minute of it.

Angel Dust (Faith No More) - Some great tracks and some 'different' tracks but a great all round CD

Operation:Mindcrime (Queensryche) - One of the all time great 'Concept' albums.

The Division Bell (Pink Floyd) - Their last ever studio CD, but some great guitar work once again from Gilmour. Did anyone ever solve that Publius Enigma thing?

Siamese Dream -- Pumpkins: I prefer Mellon Collie, but for pure quality where no tracks are skipped I choose this. Not quite and experimental as MCATIS, just good rock.

Ten -- Pearl Jam: No filler, just quality songs the whole way through. I am slowly warming to Pearl Jam...

The Colour and the Shape -- Foo Fighters: Their best album, spawned some great songs, even if they weren't singles.

full circle - pennywise. great album every track has heart and feeling in it. you can tell this album was a tribute to the late jason matthew thirsk. i never skip a track. guitar is grinding and intense. drumming is hectic and great. bass is heavy and the singing is full of passion and feeling. pennywise at their best

wish you were here - pink floyd. screw dark side of the moon.this is floyds best. brilliant arty music. no one will ever make an album like this. love every second of the album. from welcome to the machine to wirsh you were here to all parts of shine on you crazy diamond. gem of an album.

damaged - black flag. this album is essential for any punk and hardcore fan and i have rarely taken it out of my cd player since getting my hands on it years ago. rollins was great upfrnt for black flag. every song has the punk attitude and is great to listen to. dirty distorted guitars with screaming punk lyrics makes for great punk anthems

Ten and Vs. - Pearl Jam.
Throwing Copper - Live
Bat out of hell - The Loaf
Unplugged - Nirvana
Yourself or someone like you - Matchbox 20
Escapology -Robbie Williams
I'm a product of the 90's.

Plus a tonne of greatest hits albums....cold chisel, the eagles, the beach boys, tracy chapman, Robbie williams, Otis Redding. But I guess they dont really count.

I rate Grace, but One By One? Don't you prefer Self-Titled and The Colour and the Shape?

There are some pretty poor songs on One By One -- Halo, Overdrive, Burn Away etc...

The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails would have to be mine. This 2CD goliath is the pinnacle of the Nine Inch Nails' talents, i just don't see how "With Teeth" is ever going to top it. The Lyrics and the instrumentals are just symphonic and are darkly shaped and twisted with industrial and mechanical synthesis.

If NIN top this one with their upcoming album, then they are truly the kings of Goth and Industrial Metal, if they aren't already.

Oh, and I also rate "A sides" by Soundgarden (why they didn't put "my wave" on there I'll never know) and "Unplugged" by Nirvana (The best Unplugged session ever).
