Move to Western Sydney Stadium

Can't read story. But this has been the rumour for a while. I'm not sure how I feel. On one hand it's great for me as i could literally walk to games. I work at the Children's Hospital Westmead, and live only a bus trip away. But on the other hand it feels weird.

They say the membership figures say there are more members in the West now than the traditional homeland. But in the end it is only while ANZ is being renovated.

Plus the stadium is looking awesome. But it's not due to open until April 2019.

So the move to this Stadium would only be because of ANZ geting knocked down and rebuilt right? Would we move back to ANZ once it's done?

Why don’t we play at Allianz? Its a 10 minutes drive from Redfern Oval, why are we playing out of western Sydney?

I think ANZ is just getting a renno. Im pretty sure we're just moving temporarily. The Tigers, Dogs and maybe even the Roosters will be using the Western Sydney stadium in 2019 while Allianz and ANZ are out of action.

Because the Rabbitohs are no longer a team that just represents the South Sydney district. We are an all-Sydney team, and we need to play out of a stadium that caters best for the majority of our fans. In this case, it seems the club believes the new stadium at Parramatta is the best option. I can only assume we will return to ANZ Stadium once the renovations there are completed. Though it will be interesting to see what would happen if we have great success at the new Parramatta Stadium, crowd, financially and team performance wise.

I suspect we would. But, it would be interesting to see if any pressure is placed on the club to continue playing out of the new Parramatta Stadium if as I said success comes from playing there.

Because no fans live near Redfern oval anymore, have you seen how expensive those terraces are? More likely to get traditional roosters fans buy there than traditional Souths fans.

Now Gus wants to move some of the Riff home games out of there as well from 2020.

Can’t say I’m surprised for normal club games it’s going to be the best stadium in Australia.
I wish Australians who don’t travel could really understand how crap a lot of the stadium infrastructure is in this country.

Agree, and it will only get worse if the AFL get their way and turn ANZ into an oval ground. Cricket and AFL have screwed stadium design in this country. The true rectangular stadium, Suncorp style has suffered. This along with the bigger is better mentality. The 15-20k football stadiums in the UK provide an atmosphere that is spine chilling.

ANZ's redevelopment is meant to reconfigure it into a genuine rectangular Stadium isn't it?
