Sailor gets boot after positive sample

Wendell Sailor's professional rugby career was in tatters last night after it was announced the Wallabies and Waratahs winger had returned a positive sample to a drug test.

A statement released by Sailor's manager confirmed the positive finding and the dual international was stood down from last night's Waratahs Super 14 match against the Hurricanes.

NSW players arriving for the game said they had not been informed of the details surrounding Sailor's omission.

ARU chief operations officer Rob Clarke had earlier contacted NSW chief executive Fraser Neill to inform him of a breach of the ARU code of conduct and Sailor was suspended indefinitely pending the results of his B sample.

The 31-year-old could face a two-year ban if his B sample also returns a positive.
