MRC charges - Blair maybe out a week

STORM prop Adam Blair must beat a grapple tackle charge to play in Friday night's opening finals match against Manly after being charged by the NRL match review committee.
Blair was charged with grade one dangerous contact - unnecesary head/neck pressure - over a tackle on Warriors captain Micheal Luck in Auckland last Saturday night which started a minor scuffle between the pair.
Because of two previous judiciary offences, Blair must succesfully challenge the charge at Wednesday night's tribunal to take his place in the grand final replay at Etihad Stadium.
If he fails to do so or pleads guilty Blair will be suspended for one match.
The Storm are battling a front row injury crisis with Matt Cross (leg) out for the season and Jeff Lima still in doubt with a broken thumb.Second-rower Sika Manu is also sidelined for the season with a leg injury.
Blair's charge could also reignite debate about Melbourne's wrestling tactics, which have previously cost the side dearly in finals football.
Last year, influential captain Cameron Smith was rubbed out of the grand final - lost 40-0 - for a grapple tackle the week before in a preliminary final against Brisbane.
Bulldogs centre Josh Morris escaped a charge for a dangerous throw on Wests Tigers prop Keith Galloway in Friday night's 34-12 loss.
South Sydney forward Ben Lowe was the only other player charged from the final round of the premiership but will not be suspended over a high tackle in Saturday night's 26-24 defeat of Cronulla.

What a joke, there was nothing in that and it happens week in week out without charge.

Morris was extremely lucky. It's just goes to show yet again the blatant inconsistancies with the match review committee. They're an absolute joke.

When the ref puts you on report for one thing and the review charges you with something totaly different you know you have a good chance of getting off.

Yes he should have, it is EXTREMELY dangerous. Luck could have had his arm ripped off. There is no need for hat type of action, it is a dog act.

His arm ripped off? That would've been quite an achievement as Blair was barely even touching his shoulder let alone his arm.

Just goes to show that the refs and NRL make it up as they go along. They bowed to media pressure with the "Crusher" and the "Chicken Wing" and now they have to look as though they're consistent with their rulings.

It's a joke that all it takes to be charged with a "Crusher" or "Chicken Wing" is to play for Melbourne.

I suppose you think there was nothing wrong with the tackle.

Michael Luck was going to tear the guys head off, and I personally believe Michael Luck has a pretty good nature. Regardless of what team or player that is against - that tells me it was probably not cool.

Blair's been charged with "unnecessary pressure to the head/neck". In the tackle on Luck at no point does he apply any sustained pressure on his head/neck. All he does is twist him onto the ground while holding his shoulder.

Now as far as i'm aware its not illegal to tackle a player around the shoulders, so there was nothing wrong with the tackle.

Your scumbag team dug their own hole by introducing much of this wrestling bullsh*t to the game, so if the MRC pay extra attention to them in the review process they only have themselves to blame.

Exactlt, Michael Luck would not have blown up if it was a normal tackle. This reminded me of the nathan Cayless one where he got severly injured.

fact is butters, if he tackles him around the legs or the waist he does not get suspended. The quicker the nrl goes towards the ESL rules the better. Why do we need people anywhere near people's head!
