Well even today, he looks out of his depth. I'm Mullen's biggest fan but jeez...

8 minutes to go, gets the ball on the fifth with like 5 players outside him in the opposition 20 and he gets tackled...

agree yosh. Only I'm not his biggest fan. I'm Uate's biggest fan. Mullen should never play for NSW ever again.

Yeah doesn't exactly help when the rep selectors insist on picking him out of position.

Either play him at 5/8 or not at all

We will never win a premiership with Mullen in either 6 or 7. He is just not a big game player.

I've got the game recorded and only watched the first 30 minutes, but Mullen looked to be playing out wider at second receiver for most touches I've seen so far??

Not a great game from him, but most players were pretty average out there. Not only was he out of position but it was like the coach told him he wasn't allowed onto the right hand side of the feild. I'm not really sure what position or structure they had him in but he certainly wasn't playing his natural game or anything close to it.
He was more of a left inside centre. Very strange tactics.

Bird also didn't help him. He seemed to be playing for personal stats and it really hindered the halves. It was like he felt he had to touch the ball every second play but wasn't allowed to pass. I thought he consistantly got in the way and chimed in where mullen or carney should have.

I'm happy he won't play origin personally. Good for the knights.

Jimmy didn't get a chance to do anything good or bad really.

Re the point on Bird. He looked like a rep player. Took responsibility and put his hand up. Mullen looked scared almost.

Nah you are EXACTLY right Rusty - put him in the 8 or the 10 for sure - then we will win a comp straight away - where in gods name are you gonna play him - and for gods sake please DONT tell me centres or fullback !

This is the reason that I dislike CvC matches. It encourages players to be selfish and you continually see them going for the big play- silly offloads, centres holding the ball instead of passing it on to the winger, lots of dummy half running from the outside backs, back rowers killing back line movements...

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing Rusty was hinting that he shouldn't be anywhere in the side.

He is a rep player, certainly. My point is that he seemed more hellbent on proving he was a rep player than doing the best play for the team (passing for example).

Perhaps he felt he had to join in each play because the halves weren't, but he was doing it from the outset so i doubt it.

And im not necessarily defending mullen either, he did himself no favours today that is for sure. Least he didn't get hooked to the wing though like Hayne lol.

As for not having Mullen in the Knights side, i personally think dropping our best player would be a bad idea.... call me crazy.
