Musings of coach shines ...

`Well they're gonna hurt us from kicks we just have to make sure it's not fatal'

Well supercoach, here's an idea:
Pick a winger who stands taller than 5 feet and who can handle the aerial bombardment that's coming. Here's another one:
Don't contest 6 pocket theory bombs unless they are landing on the goal line ... belt the bloke as soon as he lands and wrap the ball up (unlike the newcastle game)

You would think he'd have picked a tall, physical winger. Kenny-Dowell must be having wet dreams thinking of how many he's gonna get against junior burger

Its all about horses for courses. Two things we know for certain

1--the chooks are going to have a lot of big men running close to the ruck off well timmed inside balls----now their is not a lot we can do about it with the forward pack we have available excpet maybe try and put heaps of pressure on junior junior.

2--now the next thing we we know is, the chooks since inventing the bomb and than the cross field bomb use it for 90% of their 5th tackle options. So what does Sheen do, picks Bomber Burger on the wing (bomber for his ability to bomb trys). I would have thought a bloke like Beau Ryan who is tough and strong would have been the option and a good record in the air. Fitlers no fool it will be like the battle of Britian all over again down bomber burgers wing

There are 2 things we should and could do SC:
To combat 1 - compress when easts are coming out of trouble. They don't like throwing it wide early and in their own half .. tempt them to do what doesn't come naturally
To combat 2 - Peni looked ready and was on FSN this morning at training. He's tall, big, strong and fast and easts might have to think of a plan B. Paul Langmack could figure out the easts game plan of bomb to junior burger this week

I'm more wondered about bombing to Tuiaki's wing to be honest. I can't recall seeing Junior drop too many bombs this year (ok he got in Hodgo's way the other week but we got away with it). Meanwhile Tuiaki looks scared to contest the ball. Either that or he doesn't give a sh*t.

Tuiaki is solid though ... but does have a drop in him
Watch him in the warm up and you will see one f**k up that bounces off his shoulder every week

To be honest I think they are just going to roll over us in the middle, short passes to big formards when they are close to our line for some tries near the posts. Just have that feeling, propbebly because they are bulldogs mkII

And a sh*tload of dummy half runs, keep their forwards running backwards in defence, it'll wear them out very quickly.

Tuiaki, McDonnell, Lawrence, Hodgson, Morris, Farah, Halatau all need to run from dummy half a sh*tload, at least 2 -3 times every set.

This should keep their defence running backwards a lot, our attack moving forward quickly, and our forwards, who'll have less to do in attack, more energy to provide better and stronger defence.

In such a match, we needed to have flanagan on the bench instead of Morris.

what with the dogs buying a sh*tload of crappy halfbacks, I was kinda hoping we may have lost Morris to them.

Exactly. Apart from his pace (that I realise he hasn`t been displaying, therefore he`s still obviously not 100%), McDonnell represented NSW U/17`s AND NSW U/19`s at fullback. Believe it or not, his father had nothing to do with selecting these sides and not only did he play, but he was a standout both times. He`s very good under the high ball, he may be smallish, but it`s not much good being big and not being able to catch either. (Manu Vatuvei)

I saw how well he could catch vs the Titans and Broncos last yr, Newcastle this yr etc
As for his pace i'd back O'Meley to outsprint the mong
As for NSW u19s, so what ... so did Mitchell Pearce who is now being talked about as an origin player whilst junior burger looks like a rabbit caught in headlights and continues to make a mong of himself

If you think his 3 yr deal had nothing to do with whose sprog he is you're either lying, deluded or blind ... or all 3
