My first choice british test team (coming from an aussie)

this is the team i would pick, based on what i have seen from the esl this year. i watch bothj games every week, and believe it is of a high quality.

this team i picked is capable of beating any team in te world, including oz and nz.
it is also based on suspensions inflicted upon players like sean long.

here it is:

1. Richard Mathers
2. Brian Carney
3. Martin Gleeson
4. Kieth Senior
5. Kris Radlinski
6. Danny McGuire
7. Richard Horne
8. Stuart Fielden
9. Danny Orr
10. Adrian Morley
11. Danny Sculthorpe
12. Andrew Farrel
13. Paul Sculthorpe

14. Paul Anderson
15. Jamie Peacock
16. Kieth Mason
17. Llestyn Harris

note, i put radlinski at wing, as he is fast paced, and due to the aussie and kiwi reliance on the boot, they would need kick returners. there is also a lack of world-class wigers from the uk.
also, Orr is perfect at hooker, as he is very creative and would suit perfectly out of dummy half.
Anderson would be explosive of the bench too.

what do u brits think of the team i picked? keeping in mind there are several super league teams i have yet to see in 2004.

ok, not too bad so here is mine

1. Richard Horne - fullback is his best position imo.
2. Brian Carney / Gareth Rayner hard to choose when both fully fit
3. Martin Gleeson
4. Keith Senior
5. Leon Pryce
6. Iestyn Harris - if he continues to get back to his best
7. Sean Long
13. Paul Sculthorpe
12. Gareth Ellis - most improved player in RL, absolute quality
11. Adrian Morley
10. Andy Farrell
9. Kieron Cunningham/Terry Newton, KC needs to be fully fit
8. Stu Fielden

14. Nick Fozzard
15. Jamie Peacock
16. Danny Sculthorpe/Lee Gilmour, depends on if Scully is fit

Long will be back and available for the Tri-Nations.

Horne playing good in the halves and deserves a go. Not sure Harris will come straight back into rep teams this season? Maguire handy player to have on the bench. Newtown deserves first shot at hooker after Cummingham.

I think it will be a cracker of a series, can't predict how it will turn out.

What is doing with Jason Robinson? he didnt even tour with the England team that came here. If he doesnt want to bother touring and playing Union then he may as well come back to league and play some real test matches.

Not too bad

As a Wigan Fan though Radlinski is no Winger as any fan in SL would tell you.
I can't decide the FB position though - Radlinski, Mathers, Wellens, Briscoe.

Cunnigham HAS to be fit, if not up step Terry Newton who has been playing Superb over the last couple of weeks.

Mind you Expect some St Helens Players to pull out due to "Injuries" as it has happened for about 3 or 4 years now.

Does anyone think Noble will Risk McGuire to start at 6 or come off the bench?

btw Robinson was rested for RU tour to Australia + NZ.

Agree with you on the Rads front. If you're going to play him it has to be at full back.

RE McGuire - I'm not so sure. Do we have any friendlies before the Tri Nations? He might be worth a go. He's got to be somewhere in the 17 either way on current form. I'm just praying that he doesn't put Leon at stand-off

good point about the friendlies. But who would we play, the only team i could think of is France but they will have started their season come october/November time.

I Remember Leon Pryce saying 1-2yrs back saying that he wanted to become the NExt GB Stand-off.  #-o

I hope GB have atleast one friendly b4 the Tri-Nations though.
After the Ashes defeat last year some of the RL Public demanded that we have a friendly this year, but cant see it happening. The RFL are useless in my opinion.

He used to play for warrington. Then went to leeds  then went off to RU to play for cardiff and Wales.

NOW he is at the Bradford bulls. Stand off/ full back/centre. Can be world class on his day, but new back to league so we'll see how he goes.

There was some talk of a 30 man 'possibles' squad that was named by Noble for the trinations...but i have never been able to find it...just wondering if anybody else has ever seen it anywhere on the web.
