My last rant of the series!

I'll not go on about refereeing tonight, just to say that the discipline from the Australian's was terrible. The spoiling tactics were out in full tonight, but only slightly more than last week, the refs job was much improved on last weeks effort on the whole. A far more realistic penalty count than the miraculous one invented by Timmy last week. One thing that annoyed me was going back two tackles to penalise GB after the Roos player had stayed down. The ref shouldn't be watching the TV in the break in play, and there was nothing wrong with the tackle anyway, first impact was on the shoulder.

Second point is Darren Lockyer. Surely this man is the best rugby player in the world in either code? His performance tonight was utter perfection and he's been doing it for years now. He is about the only player in the world who I would sell my house to have at my club. He is surely the greatest ever fullback to play the game, and I can't honestly suggest anyone better in any position either, simply outstanding. People crow about Johns, but even he doesn't have the ability to turn games like Lockyer does. It was worth the admission money alone to watch this utter genius play.

Then on to GB's performance. Frankly I feel like slitting my wrists! We have once again had the game by the scruff of the neck, and again we didn't respond when the Roos stepped it up in the final 10 minutes. GB stopped doing the simple things that had put them in the lead, they were looking at each other for inspiration, waiting for someone else to win it for them. Total cowards if you ask me, it's about time they dug their heels in and played like a team for the full 80. There is enough talent in the team, but the winning mentality certainly isn't in them, the ending was excruciating because you could see it unfolding with 10 to go, and there was nothing you could do about it!!

Radlinski - The ginger doormat was okay tonight, but poor overall
Carney - Great performance, best league winger going
Gleeson - Tremendous again, GB's finest right sided centre by a mile
Gilmour - Did okay, but where was he when De Vere scored?
Horne - Quiet again, didn't do much wrong
Sculthorpe - Top quality player, should be playing at loose forward, but about the only GB playmaker with anything to offer.
Deacon - Surely the last time he'll play for GB, awful again
Fielden - As much as I despise him, he has played well, shame we've only got one of him
Newton - Like Deacon, surely this is the last time he plays at this level, awful series, contributed nothing
Morley - I'm not convinced he's learnt anything from the NRL, did okay tonight but not during the other tests, still too dumb to be good.
Peacock - Quiet tonight, good series
Farrell - Trys hard, but doesn't have the ability at this level, his international retirement is a year or two overdue now
Forshaw - His international retirement should have been before his debut! Shocking in attack, solid in defence

McDermott - Poor, dropping balls uncontested in your own 20 is unforgivable
Sinfield - Should not be in the side, unless at 13, offers nothing as a hooker
Ellis - Impressive debut on the whole, has potential
Long - Better tonight, in a different league to Deacon

On the whole Waite made several crucial errors. Gleeson should have played all three tests and would have offered far more penetration than Connolly. Newton isn't good enough, should have picked two genuine players at half back with Scully at loose forward. There are much hungrier props around than Anderson and McDermott too like Sculthorpe, Lynch or even Paul King.

GB should now cut the deadwood from the side and bring the youth through like McGuire, Burrow, Reardon, Aspinwall, Sculthorpe, Hock etc. If we go into the Tri Series with the same old players, we'll lose again, simple as!

Only saving grace was sitting in the John Smith's stand behind three lovely Australian girls who were plastered and determined to show they were better dancers than the 'Sky Lights!' :D

Don't you just wanna hit that overrated media darling Mason over the head with a frying pan. The way he was grinning, mugging and acting like a total f**kwit after the game (when he done nothing all year to deserve to be there) really got on my nerves.

Clive Churchill, Graham Langlands spring straight to mind and IMO Lockyer is only a fullback in defence - not so much when in G&G, but when in Maroon and Broncos colours.

????? Mate your kidding - Johns does not turn matches???????

I would never rate a guy who makes 5 tackles per game the best player. Best attacker maybe.
I do think Locky is brilliant, but mate go watch SoO form this year, you'll see what I mean, he was still there best player, but who was the dominator????

I have never seen Churchill or Langlands play, but if they were better players than Lockyer then they must have been okay.

I agree that Johns is a great player, but it is ALWAYS Lockyer that puts the boot in when it counts the most against GB. I've seen Johns play live only a handfull of times, and although he's impressed, he doesn't scare you witless when he gets the ball like Lockyer does.

Watching on Sky though, I'll probably only see Johns play five times or so a season so I'll take your word for it. Lockyer must be second though, eh?

Immortals, and Lockyer is in the same sort of class, easily the best since them IMO.

Fair Enough. Lockyer scares me too, when the ball is in his hands for the QLD.

Johns is not perfect, but as a half has the chance to be more dominate than a fullback. Do not get me wrong Lockyer is brilliant, but as fullback he can only do so much, in reality he plays 5/8 in attack, and is brilliant at it.

At least the English look to be on the improve, even though the result would suggest otherwise. Bring on the next series.

Thinking I have been a bit harsh on our brilliant fullback, this sentence sounds viable to me.
Australia's all -time top three fullbacks are Chuchill, Langlands and Lockyer.
Anyone choking on that sentence?

I agree with most of that.

How in the blue F##k was Kimmorley the player of the series? :?

You've gotta be kidding. Lockyer would have pushed him right to the wire, but either one of them would have been a fair call.

People need to get over their petty hatred of Brett kimmorely!
