Well Im looking forward to this game.
What a great moment in Parramatta history, the first time a player has played 300 first grade games for Parramatta, and rightly so its the man himself, Nathan Hindmarsh
It all starts with his first game against the Adelaide Rams at Parkes, of all places, wasn't originally named in the 17 but was called into the side after Jason Smith (I think?) was ruled out.
Anyone here go to this game? I cant imagine what it wouldve been like in 0 degrees temperature. If I recall the game wasnt on Foxtel, but Parramatta only won this game 10-2.
Who wouldve thought after this game that Nathan Hindmarsh would play 299 more.
After that I dont think he missed another game in 1998.
I remember first seeing him against the Warriors at Parramatta, wasnt a stand out performer. We had a defend for about 5 sets in a row, our defence kept holding the Warriors defence. After they knocked it on we really struggled for a couple of tackles to get out of our half, but Hindmarsh made his big bust that kept us out of trouble, and a couple of minutes later we scored that pretty much wrapped it up.
After that I thought this kid will stay in first grade.
I remember the following year he did something similar against, the scores were level and we couldnt get out of our own half, but Hindmarsh made another big bust that gave us good field position and only needed a field goal to win us the game.
Only a couple years later he got a test jumper, then a State of Origin jumper, Dally M awards for 2nd rower of the year.
Then got recognition even more in 2005 winning the Peoples Choice award, which he kept for 4 years in a row.
What a legend he has been for Parramatta and deserves to get this far.
