2/4 is effectively 4/4 and neither is a waltz (3/4).

But the name and imagery of the song specifically refer to Waltzing across the outback. As in, it directly evokes the Australian musical tradition of the bushdance

So playing a song in 3/4 is now an homage to Australian bushdance tradition because a song had the name waltz in it? Has anyone told the Austrians? It evokes the memory of the greatest of all Austrian Bush Balladers Johann Strauss II.
