Whatever you think of Phil Gould you can't deny his coached some great players over the years so it was very interesting to hear him say a few years ago that Greg Alexander is the most natural footballer his ever seen.

So who's the most natural league player you've seen, not necessarily the best, although they may have been, but the most natural?

Wally wasn't really a natural footballer. He worked hard at what he did. The fact he was a play or two ahead of where everyone else was made him a different player.

Also, the fact is that in the 80's and before there were many more footballers than athletes. Now there are more athletes. So the older players are more likely to figure in that list.

Brett Kenny.

Never looked like he was putting any effort into it.

Haha...yeah, everytime I saw him walking back after scoring or having a major hand in a try and getting all the pats on the back etc, his expression was like, "Whats all the fuss about?"
Very cool.

when Peter Sterling first saw him, he described him has "snotty nosed little school kid" with his scruffy hair, shirt out and socks down and he came as a replacement in the under 23's in the late 70's and Sterlo playingin the same team apparently rolled his eyes in despair, thinking what the hell's going on here???

he virtually carved up in his first touch and won the game for Parra...the rest is history.

if anyone has ever seen his 2 tries in the 1981 grand final, will understand how beautifully balanced he was on his feet, but the incredible thing about those 2 tries he's trademark swerve and step weren't even on show.

Depends on what you mean by 'natural'.
