Based on the same stats for all clubs, you'll find that only the Broncos, Sharks, Manly and Storm defended better than they did in 2020. Penrith were about the same but Souths, Roosters and Eels were all worse.
Pretty hard to base any team stats (Dragons)on last year, don't you think?

Of course it is. That's my point. Nearly every team's defence was worse under the new rules - unless they were highly skilled (Storm), having an unusually good season (Manly), coming from a very low base (Broncos) or horrendously boring to watch (Sharks). Dragons defence was worse in 2021 but no more so (% wise at least) than some of the good teams.

People can make stats fit whatever narrative they want.

Excellent post. This club has been deeply mired in absolute mediocrity for an entire decade. Our buys for next year were ordinary, now adding Sharon Woods to the list, they are borderline laughable. There is some young talent at the club, I sincerely hope they have a big season and really evolve in 2022. But realistically, we are several years away from any sort of real premiership window. And after 10 years of shit (1 finals win in 11 years. One.), that is f**king depressing.
