Yeah I got the same tickets as I did for last nights game and they were still only $20. And they're seven rows back from the court. Not bad. Not bad @ all.

That would be good. The Kings need as much support financially. It would be a shame if the Kings franchise folded.

should be a good GF series...Anstey, Lampley and Thomas are all in excellent form and i'm sure Barlow would like to get one over his old team

Woohoo! Did anyone else go to the Kings game tonight? What a howler. Poor Redhage (Not really, I hate that prick) got HECKLED like nothing else. It was beautiful. Sydney just DESTROYED them. I remember looking up at the scoreboard in the fourth, seeing it read 91-41, and thinking everything in the world was right. Goodbye Perth! Thanks for coming. See ya Redhage, nice try, maybe next time. I loved the "nah nah nah nah... nah nah nah nah... hey hey hey... GOODBYE!" served up by the fans @ Door 12. So good! Bring on the Tigers! Anyone going to that game? I'll be there...
It’s always the case isn’t it? The opposition’s best player gets heckled in the opposing venue. The likes of Chris Anstey, Ebi Ere and Corey ‘Homicide’ Williams [all MVP candidates] get heckled here at Challenge Stadium nothing different than Shawn Redhage getting heckled [if that’s what you call it] at the Sydney Entertainment Centre

I’m sure it’s a different heckling though at the Sydney Entertainment Centre you have 4,000 fans [who are mostly blow ins] in a 10,000 capacity stadium can you really compare it to Challenge Stadium in Perth where 5,000 fans [in a 5,000 capacity] are ‘heckling’? Ask Glen Saville after Game 2 of the series. I personally loved ‘Saville’s a wanker’ chant in Perth.

Yeah I guess Shawn Redhage’s effort was a nice try El Coco – 27.0 points @ 0.622, 2.7 triples @ 0.615, 8.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks against the best defence in the league and the Boomers coach. I wonder if this type of effort will put pressure on Glen Saville and Mark Worthington’s spot for the Beijing Olympics.

 the bitterness...

Firstly, the Sydney Entertainment Centre doesn't have a 10, 000 capacity. The Kings signed a contract that required half the stadium to be blocked off if they wanted to stay @ the Entertainment Centre. They'll get 6,000 @ most.

Secondly, I think Perth have great fans. I've travelled and sat in attendance a couple of times @ Challenge Stadium. If any crowd reminds me of a college crowd it's the Wildcats. They have great fans. No doubt about it. And you know what, you better the heck get good crowds there. Considering the Wildcats only have the Glory, Force, the Eagles & Freemantle to compete with, (and only one of those teams play in summer) you better the heck make sure your crowd is solid. The Kings are based in a Rugby League city. The only fans that are turning up to Kings game these days are the loyals. We don't have the corporate nuffies that turn up to Tigers/Bullets games. Sydney fans can be just as spiteful as Perth fans. "Saville's a wanker?" Come on, you guys can do better than that...

Why the heck would Redhage's effort put pressure on Saville and Worthington's Beijing Olympics spot? So that when the Boomer's make the bronze medal game Redhage can come out and shoot 4/12 @ the line in the first half? (Way funny by the way, given that the blindfolded fan hit two free throws @ quarter time) What do we know about Redhage after Saturday's game? That when it comes to money time, Worthington OWNED him. I loved it. We all loved it. If anything, we learnt that Redhage is just as vulnerable against a stronger opponent (and lets face it, Sydney came out and threw him all over the place) and burns way to much energy on offense that he gets caught out by fast breaks in defence. It was amazing seeing such a bonafide clutch performer like Redhage playing the biggest game of the season with both hands wrapped firmly around his neck.

If I'm coaching the Boomers, Redhage is one of the first names on the list. I like his play. I really do, and Australia needs someone with a bit of mongrel (even if he is an American convert) to shake things up. But NO WAY he gets chosen before Worthington. Absolutely no chance. The truth: Worthington has NEVER cracked under pressure the way Redhage did on Saturday night.

No bitterness at all. I have congratulated the Kings on their dominate performance in Game 3. One of the best team performances I have seen since I have followed the sport back in 1995. One of my favourite sayings is ‘You can’t knock success’ and I think that saying reflects the Kings since Brian Goorjian has been coaching them.

I used to laugh at the fact if the Kings won a NBL Championship it would save the face NBL. It surely didn’t help when only 2,600 Sydney fans rocked up in Game 1. I personally think it’s quite disappointing that an average of 3,591 in a city with a population of 4,297,100 considering they are only competing with Sydney FC and the NSW Speedblitz Blues during the Summer, whether that’s got something to do with Kings marketing or no one gives a sh*t about the NBL in Sydney I don’t know. I haven’t lived there for 14 years.

My point about the ‘Saville’s a wanker’ chant is you actually heard it on TV for about 1 min after the incident. I watched Game 3 on Saturday and I couldn’t even tell if the Sydney crowd heckled the Wildcats or Redhage. I certainly heard boo’s etc.

I did say in my previous post that Shawn Redhage would put PRESSURE on Glen Saville and Mark Worthington’s spot for the Beijing Olympics not that he would TAKE their spots. We all know Brian Goorjian has soft spots for his NBL players [Kendall, Hinder etc]

Why would he? Because he, Saville and Wortho play the same positions and the fact he has carried the Perth Wildcats all year and we wouldn’t have been in the position we were in without him. I’m not one to judge players on one game [even on a series decider] but I won’t make excuses for how he shot the ball from the free throw line in Game 3, he looked tired and drained. Given the fact it’s the first time Wortho ‘owned him’ this season I would take that.

Wortho against the Wildcats
Game 1: 0/6 from the field, 3/6 from the free throw line, 8 rebounds
Game 2: 6/13 from the field, 2/3 from the free throw line, 8 rebounds
Game 3 [Semi Final Game 1]: 2/8 from the field, 0/0 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds
Game 4 [Semi Final Game 3]: 6/11 from the field, 4/5 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds
Summary: 14/38 from the field, 9/14 from the free throw line, 26 rebounds

Rednuts against the Kings
Game 1: 4/11 from the field, 5/6 from the free throw line, 9 rebounds
Game 2: 5/13 from the field, 2/2 from the free throw line, 7 rebounds
Game 3 [Semi Final Game 1]: 8/12 from the field, 7/8 from the free throw line, 9 rebounds
Game 4 [Semi Final Game 3]: 7/11 from the field, 6/15 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds
Summary: 24/47 from the field, 20/31 from the free throw line, 32 rebounds

Considering Redhage had a ‘Barry Crocker’ in Game 3 his season summary against Worthington seems to come up well. Maybe your announcer [Is it Rodney O still?] should have gave Shawn a blind fold and he could have made some of those 9 missed free throws.

I’m sure his 9 missed free throws weren’t the reason why the Wildcats lost the game on Saturday night. But if that’s all you can hang on him. That’s fine.

I’d prefer Redhage missing a couple of free throws then a player getting ejected for throwing a forearm to the head of an opponent.

Put it this way I’d prefer to have both Redhage and Worthington in the same team for both the Boomers and the Perth Wildcats [next season, it could and most probably will happen]

I think you've missed the point about the crowds. It's not that Sydney are only competing against two other teams. It's the fact they they're based in a city that only truly cares about rugby league. The Tigers draw noticably smaller crowds than their AFL counterparts for similar reasons. Perth is far more established as a basketball town than either Sydney or Melbourne. Ditto for Adelaide. The 36'ers and Wildcats are so well set up in the league. Kudos to their management really.

As for the season stats, all they tell me is that Redhage is the NBL's version of Karl Malone. Regular season stat cruncher, big moment choke job. I'm not knocking on Redhage's game. The kid can play. And I like his aggresiveness. If anything I wish he played for my team. But I don't think he's more valuable to the boomers than Worthington is.

Aye aye aye, Worthington you absolute beast! Easily the newly established Kings fan favourite! 35-8-3. Kept them chugging along when they were getting eaten alive all over the court. Sydney are so hard to beat @ home. Loved seeing the crowd getting stuck into the refs on the no travelling call from McDonald. Good times. Two more games lads, two more games!
