 the bitterness...
Firstly, the Sydney Entertainment Centre doesn't have a 10, 000 capacity. The Kings signed a contract that required half the stadium to be blocked off if they wanted to stay @ the Entertainment Centre. They'll get 6,000 @ most.
Secondly, I think Perth have great fans. I've travelled and sat in attendance a couple of times @ Challenge Stadium. If any crowd reminds me of a college crowd it's the Wildcats. They have great fans. No doubt about it. And you know what, you better the heck get good crowds there. Considering the Wildcats only have the Glory, Force, the Eagles & Freemantle to compete with, (and only one of those teams play in summer) you better the heck make sure your crowd is solid. The Kings are based in a Rugby League city. The only fans that are turning up to Kings game these days are the loyals. We don't have the corporate nuffies that turn up to Tigers/Bullets games. Sydney fans can be just as spiteful as Perth fans. "Saville's a wanker?" Come on, you guys can do better than that...
Why the heck would Redhage's effort put pressure on Saville and Worthington's Beijing Olympics spot? So that when the Boomer's make the bronze medal game Redhage can come out and shoot 4/12 @ the line in the first half? (Way funny by the way, given that the blindfolded fan hit two free throws @ quarter time) What do we know about Redhage after Saturday's game? That when it comes to money time, Worthington OWNED him. I loved it. We all loved it. If anything, we learnt that Redhage is just as vulnerable against a stronger opponent (and lets face it, Sydney came out and threw him all over the place) and burns way to much energy on offense that he gets caught out by fast breaks in defence. It was amazing seeing such a bonafide clutch performer like Redhage playing the biggest game of the season with both hands wrapped firmly around his neck.
If I'm coaching the Boomers, Redhage is one of the first names on the list. I like his play. I really do, and Australia needs someone with a bit of mongrel (even if he is an American convert) to shake things up. But NO WAY he gets chosen before Worthington. Absolutely no chance. The truth: Worthington has NEVER cracked under pressure the way Redhage did on Saturday night.
