when I went there was a convoy of seven 4 wheel drives including goons with automatic weapons. we went into villages where guys were walking with machettes and not liking what "we" were telling them about the growing of tobacco. We went from Mt Hagan and drove west for around an hour until we were in the middle of nowhere. Everywhere we went, people were simply rising out of the grass. Then, i swear this is true, just as I was thinking Im probably one of only about 100 white blokes who had ever been here, a dude popped up from a field wearing a North Sydney Bears jumper. the one with the Leagues club as sponsor.
They love league. we (australia) owe them big time. they aint ready for the top league but it would be great if they could get some games, development, and maybe participation in the xxxx cup?
Maybe we could make PNG a League Unlimited project? raise money, get some publicity happening, sponsor one player? I'd put $50 in to start it.
