The biggest Panasonic HD LED video screen installation in the world was unveiled today at ANZ Stadium, and they will be in use for the first time at an event at the Charity Shield on Saturday night. These High Definition LED screens are the biggest in Australia each being over 10 metres high and over 23 metres long.

To give this some perspective they are more than 50% bigger than the Panasonic screens installed in Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium and are 70% bigger than the original screens installed at ANZ Stadium for the 2000 Sydney Olympics

They will make their much anticipated debut at Saturday night’s Charity Shield showdown between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and St. George Illawarra Dragons and their launch is the first major announcement to be made by ANZ Stadium in 2009 – its’ 10th Birthday year.

“Our objective for the new video screens is to deliver the best viewing experience possible for the fans at ANZ Stadium,” ANZ Stadium CEO and Managing Director Ken Edwards said.

“These Panasonic screens deliver a viewing experience which is unsurpassed anywhere in the world.”

“The screens are large enough to enable live vision of the game to be displayed at the same time as player statistics, scores, sponsored messages and venue information. For our fans this means uninterrupted viewing of the game.”

Unreal, I won't have look down anymore to check if my beer glass is empty... I'll be able to check it on the big screen without missing a beat...

Dragons fans will even be able to see grampa benny's ear and nose hairs and tell whether his hearing aid is switched on or not...

Dave and AM.... imagine the close ups you'll get of Hegs chrome dome when we play the Cowboys at ANZ..... Yeeeehaaaa!!:lol:

Can't wait to see them in action. I would prefer the game was at the SFS for the extra atmosphere as smaller ground.

HU HU Nemis, there won't be any time to get a shot of Saint Wayne, as the cameras will be on your try line most of the the time:D.

As it's only a trail, good luck and looking forward to a ripper of a match to kick off the season.

I agree... it would have been a fantastic atmosphere at the SFS with that crowd of 26,000. Although last night, the Dragons fans were more quiet than usual for some reason. ;-)

BTW... we did see gramps on the big screen and his nasal hairs were twitching something fierce, because the cameras were right on our try line, but there were no SGI players in sight. :D

Good hit out from both sides to kick off the season. Good luck for season '09.... 'till we meet again in round 25 that is.

Likewise,

Good luck, you guys should go alright this year, which it will be great to see.

By the way, I thought your cheer squad last night was brilliant. Great to see them in such good voice.
