Brett Kenny promoted
From a media release we put out today ...

Brett Kenny has been promoted to coach Penrith’s Jersey Flegg side next season.

The former Australian and Parramatta five-eighth will be assisted in the role by ex-Wigan five-eighth Nigel Wright.

Kenny had been coach of Penrith’s SG Ball side but the departure of Wayne Lambkin to coach Canterbury’s Premier League side left the Jersey Flegg spot open.

Got this off PI.

It will be good to see Bert's rough melon around the Penrith area.

Nigel Wright coached Emu A Grade last year and Harold Matthews. He's a nice bloke for a pommie.

Given the junior nursery Penrith has at their diposal Steady Eddy could coach any junior side.
Whats that? Brett Kenny is related to Steady.......oh i thought so

To really cut the mustard in the coaching department thesedays, you need to have media skills and be a pseudo politician. I hope Bert can pull it off. I wish him luck and if he coaches as well as he played he should go o.k.

I'm still majorly pissed off at the Penrith administrators for dumping
the great Col Van Der Voort as a lower grade coach, and so is he. He had
nothing but great results as a coach, and the guys in the team totally
respected him as a former player and as their coach.

He didn't want anything more than to be allowed to be part of the club
that he loved, and he was dumped quite rudely, with virtually no notice,
no apology, and no thanks for all the great results you brought to the club
as a player or as a coach.

He is absolutely filthy at the club for the way he has been treated, and will
no longer have anything to do with the club. It's disgusting that he should
have been treated so badly.

And how do I know this is how he feels, you will be asking yourselves ?

Because my husband is friends with a guy who has been Van Der Voort's
best mate since back in his playing days.

I really hate the way our club treats players, coaches, and footy staff
when they decide they have no further use for them, Satts, Royce, and
Van Der Voort are just a couple of examples among many.

Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now... :?

Kinda the nature of the game, you coach/play on a knife edge from day to day.......In Cols case if that were me I would sign up for the Roosters and make it my purpose to smash all the Penrith juniors for 20 years. But thats just me :)

but then couldn't bring himself to do it.........thank god for that.....
