A little bit of fun to pass some time, if you were given a new franchise and were allowed to pick any 5 players in the league and given the first two picks, what 7 players would you build your team around?
For me, i'd focus mostly on Defense, but you need a QB, so my first pick is Andrew Luck. Speaks for itself.
I think LT's are really hard to find, and every offense needs a great one, so id also take Tyron Smith. He is young, in his prime and is a fantastic run blocker and pass protector.
Then im moving over to the defensive side, and im taking the best defensive player in the game - JJ Watt. I expect everyone will have JJ Watt and Luck in their list tbh. Stuffs the run, gets after the QB.
I want another elite pass rusher to try and dominate the game on defense, so im taking Von Miller as well, i think you can cover up a lot weakness's with an every down pass rush, and pairing Watt and Miller together is the perfect way to ensure you can get to the QB.
Im taking some Secondary help too. I thought about corners, but Revis is kinda old, Sherman is a system CB and Haden/PP don't quite do it for me. So im going safety, Earl Thomas. A guy who can line everyone up, and make sure you dont get beat over the top.
My two draft picks:
First im sticking on D. I got Miller, Watt and Thomas, but im really wanting to make teams terrified of playing my D. So im going to take Leonard Williams. Between him and Watt on the DL, you've got every down run stuffing and pressure, with Miller coming off the edge and Thomas cleaning things up at the back.
I think id go back over on offense and take Amari Cooper, the top wide out in the draft gives Luck a young #1 who can go over the middle or go deep. Something he needs to help move the sticks.
Player 1: Andrew Luck, QB
Player 2: Tyron Smith, LT
Player 3: JJ Watt, DE
Player 4: Von Miller, OLB
Player 5: Earl Thomas, FS
Player 6: Leonard Williams, DT
Player 7: Amari Cooper, WR
How say you?
