New Franchise Game

A little bit of fun to pass some time, if you were given a new franchise and were allowed to pick any 5 players in the league and given the first two picks, what 7 players would you build your team around?

For me, i'd focus mostly on Defense, but you need a QB, so my first pick is Andrew Luck. Speaks for itself.

I think LT's are really hard to find, and every offense needs a great one, so id also take Tyron Smith. He is young, in his prime and is a fantastic run blocker and pass protector.

Then im moving over to the defensive side, and im taking the best defensive player in the game - JJ Watt. I expect everyone will have JJ Watt and Luck in their list tbh. Stuffs the run, gets after the QB.

I want another elite pass rusher to try and dominate the game on defense, so im taking Von Miller as well, i think you can cover up a lot weakness's with an every down pass rush, and pairing Watt and Miller together is the perfect way to ensure you can get to the QB.

Im taking some Secondary help too. I thought about corners, but Revis is kinda old, Sherman is a system CB and Haden/PP don't quite do it for me. So im going safety, Earl Thomas. A guy who can line everyone up, and make sure you dont get beat over the top.

My two draft picks:

First im sticking on D. I got Miller, Watt and Thomas, but im really wanting to make teams terrified of playing my D. So im going to take Leonard Williams. Between him and Watt on the DL, you've got every down run stuffing and pressure, with Miller coming off the edge and Thomas cleaning things up at the back.

I think id go back over on offense and take Amari Cooper, the top wide out in the draft gives Luck a young #1 who can go over the middle or go deep. Something he needs to help move the sticks.

Player 1: Andrew Luck, QB
Player 2: Tyron Smith, LT
Player 3: JJ Watt, DE
Player 4: Von Miller, OLB
Player 5: Earl Thomas, FS
Player 6: Leonard Williams, DT
Player 7: Amari Cooper, WR

How say you?

So i cant have those guys given you have em.

1. you want a QB. Ill go with the guy who nearly won two superbowls in a row.
Russell Wilson. Given his age, and how he plays. i like his runs and his deep throws.

2. Ill have Justin Houston OLB.
awesome linebacker and sack machine.

3. DT Ndamukong Suh. Cos Suh. he will stomp your shit.

4. Ill have Cam Chancellor. because he's also really good.

So you have three really strong pieces on defence at each level. Line, Linebacker and in the secondary.

Fifth player.

5. Odell Beckham Jr. electric speed, catches anything. young as. will be a start for years. also named Beckham.

Pick one

La'ell Collins - OT LSU

Cos you need one of those guys. Offensive tackle to protect Wilson.

Pick Two

Randy Gregory. Young agressive pass rusher who teamed with Suh and Houston will thrive.

1. Andrew Luck - QB - best young QB of this generation.
2. JJ Watt - DE - best player of this generation
3. Trent Williams - LT - The Silverback... Mean, Nasty Tackle... Still only 26 Years Old
4. Aaron Donald - DT - Kid is phenomenal, amazing pass rusher and is in year 2 of his rookie deal so provides massive flexibility cap wise.
5. Khalil Mack - OLB - I maybe a homer, but when you have the likes of Justin Tuck, Meryl Hodge & TJ Ward saying this kid is allready the best LB in the game and they are comparing him with LT... Then add the fact he is also on year 2 on his rookie deal.

Pick 1. Amari Cooper - WR - Andrew Luck needs a #1 target.. This kid is that receiver.
Pick 2. Leonard Williams - DE - Big, athletic, aggressive pass rusher.... Why not?

Okay.... So that maybe a tad on the aggressive side... But I honestly think that with the ages of the guys (Trent Williams being the eldest at 26) and the fact Donald & Mack are both still on rookie deals you will have the ability to get even better pieces around them

The obvious issue is fitting all of those pass rushers into a system.... But you could run a 3-4...

I cant fault you for picking Mack, i almost put him in my 5 ahead of Von Miller. Mack was incredible in his rookie year, could have had 12+ sacks with even an ounce of luck.

Player 1: Russell Wilson, QB
Player 2: Tyron Smith, LT
Player 3: Zack Martin, RG or maybe even RT
Player 4: JJ Watt, DE
Player 5: Richard Sherman, CB
Player 6: Amari Cooper, WR
Player 7: Leonard Williams, DL

You would have to select Wilson because he is the quarterback of the present and the future. He will need protection, so who better then Smith and Martin to do that job.

On defense you cant go past Watts. He would be apart of every team. Just imagine the havoc Watts and Sherman would create working together. One would get a lot of sacks and the other a lot of intercepts.

Wilson will need receivers to throw to and who better in the draft then Cooper who grabbed 124 receptions last season with 16 toucdowns

I would add Leonard Williams to the defensive line. He can play either tackle or end.

Can't believe people are picking Wilson over Luck.
1 person went with Wilson.... Someone else did but that was only because he thought he wasn't allowed to pick the same players nick did... Nick of course picking Luck.
