Yes, there is. There is Bull Tag at Bradford.

There is also the Tag merit league, which is basically groups of RL supporters playing each other every now and then.

And also I'm pretty sure I heard there is a regular touch comp in Huddersfield.

I'm pretty sure the RFL will start up a few new things this summer too now they've got their network of League for All officers throughout the country.

Nice one as my mate who is from Fiji is working in York and fancys some Touch or Tag Rugby for the summer.
I think now it's every Union/Leagues clubs duty to have a Touch/Tag section be it just for the summer or 12 months a year.
Will pass the info on:)

The RFL has agreed a new partnership with London-based company Try Tag Rugby to further develop the modified version of Rugby League in London and the South East.

Tag Rugby is basically Rugby League without the bumps and bruises and is an extremely popular adult recreational sport in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland where over 100, 000 players regularly take to the pitch. The game started as a training aid for Rugby League clubs in Australia, but has developed into Australia’s fastest growing recreational sport.

As part of its League for All initiative, the RFL recognise the need to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to play Rugby League and Tag Rugby League is a great way to develop lifelong participation in the sport.

Dan Steel, RFL Regional Manager for London and the South East said: “The RFL’s League for All programme fits perfectly with the excellent work being done by Try Tag Rugby in expanding Tag Rugby League in London.

“The ethos of League for All is really well represented in the variety of competitions run by Try Tag Rugby from social mixed competition to more competitive higher standard competitions.

“This will offer many participants from RFL-organised League for All events, more regular and long-term opportunities to participate in Tag Rugby League.

“We’re excited by the prospect of working together to help develop the sport in London.”

Under the new partnership expertise and best practice will be shared between the two organisations also forthcoming RFL events and activities will be promoted by Try Tag Rugby and vice versa. Try Tag Rugby will also help provide a crucial sustainable outlet for participants engaged through RFL-organised League for All events and a more competitive outlet for higher level Tag Rugby League players.

Alistair Davis, Managing Director for Try Tag Rugby, said: “Tag Rugby is a fantastic sport that can be played by both male or female experienced or inexperienced rugby players.

“By staging competitions on week night evenings, Try Tag Rugby participants are able to take part in a competitive form of rugby whilst only giving up 40 minutes of the week.

“This is a great way to mix the benefits of a team sport environment with the hectic London lifestyle. Try Tag Rugby are looking forward to working with the RFL to develop this enjoyable variation of Rugby League throughout London.”

By the way, the link in the first post is now broken. It appears I can't edit it, so if one of the mods fancies fixing it to http://www.trytagrugby.com that would be great.

Never tried Tag Rugby is it different to Touch as iam starting to find Touch a bit boring now as it's all about driving the ball with the 3 same players for the first 3 touches and less about getting the ball in hand and enjoying yourself.

Teddy,

Tag is much more enjoyable, you dont tend to have the 3 drives up the middles before a few quick moves.

If the game is played the same as in Aus, you have a marker which reduces the runs from dummy half. The element of kicking and having a tag as opposed to a touch make the game much more like league. Was great to keep the fitness and ball skills up during the off-season.

Far more enjoyable in my eyes, actually requires more rugby skills then pure fitness and speed/agility.

Yes Touch Rugby is good fitness but it's all about catching people offside and quite preditable gameplan with the older and not as fast players who stick to the forward driving.Had a cople of aussie playing at our club and apart from good ball skill's they like to run and pass about while the others seem to play a touch version of the English Rugby Union team (yawn).

Touch is getting popular up in the North East of England but Tag is only played at school level.

Hindy, I've dropped you an email. We are running a comp on Tooting Bec on Tuesdays starting next week.

Teddy, maybe next year we'll be up in the North East. Drop the RFL an email however, as they might run a tag event in your area now that they are making Tag and Touch a big priority of their development programmes.

Guys, just a quick bump to plug the festival we are running in conjunction with the charity GOAL on August 29th.

http://www.trytagrugby.com/play/championships

This is the Sunday after the Challenge Cup final, hence a great opportunity for travelling RL fans to find out what tag is all about. All players get a free hog roast lunch, drink and a feed in the pub included. We've got a live band at the after party and accomodation specials for anyone needing somewhere to stay on Sunday night. It will be a great afternoon on and off the pitch. PM me if you'd like further details.

We are also running some floodlit Autumn leagues across London. Full details can be found here.
