Hunt is our best half AND our best hooker. Half is generally accepted as the more important position, and typically controls the game plan, and Hunt favours that position. So an argument for hunt to stay at half is valid.

however,

our team balance mean we have options for halves, and want to develop these younger guys for the mid to long term. We are also weak at hooker currently. And finally a game plan where the half controls much can work (See smith, and even hunt in the Aussie team). So an argument can be made that it’s best for the team.

Now Psnthers Leinu is reprtedly headed to the dogs.
We aren't signing anyone else.
Our signings won't help us much for 23.
Status quo for 23.

West Tigers don't seem to be having any problems signing high profile players and yet they were perceived as a bigger basket case than us.....so why can't we sign anyone of note?? Who is actually handling recruiting now that Flanaghan has jumped ship...is there anyone running the show or are we waiting to appoint a new person before any more decisions are made....seems like it

The way its looking I hope we have a bit of size and heart with our trial and train squad .. we havent exactly gone out and got any forwards .. And if we have "signed" Paseka from manly surely it needs to be announced now that pre season has started .... Fingers crossed for A signing

im like a broken record about this point - the Gong commute is a huge factor for player already rooted in sydney... it's why we now get primarily qlders

Can someone please explain how the dogs can afford leinu on top of everyone else they've signed recently? What is it, about 6-7 players in the $600k-$800 range? Sounds like they're back to their old cheating ways again.
Its simple and I dont understand why there isn't more scrutiny associated with it - who is the Dog's benefactor and what line of business is he in. Lots of OMO money!!

Agree mate , not sure if it's cheating or not , these clubs seem to get it done ..... Smart operators wether we like it or not ..... Our lot are in a time warp ..... If that's the way to go then be it ......

Mismanagement by the club.
In the market for players but so far no improvement for 23.The players we bought won't help us much.
Under cap pressure,beggars belief.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Dragons are in need of a topline halfback AND a topline Hooker. When you have only 1 marquee player in your squad you need excellence in these two positions.

If recruitment and the head coach feel that Hunt is to be our halfback then:
why are we holding onto Sullivan unless he is to be in the 17 as a utility player or a hooker?

Why did not we buy one of the 4 topline hookers that came onto the market after November 1?

Why did we select Woods in our 17 so often when we knew this would trigger a clause in his contract that put the opinion to extend one more season at his discretion?

Did McCullough delay his retirement announcement until after November 1 so that he could receive a full year's salary?

With seemingly so many bad errors being made, why is the head of football and the head coach still in their job?

No matter what the answers to the above questions, we have ended up with Hunt who has, with the support of his coach, only wants to play halfback (a position we have a ready replacement for) and purchase dome hookers with potential at the basement grade price.

The Dragons should be working on a five-year plan which is constantly being updated according to the current circumstances.

I say sack Horan and Griffin, and bring in Hasler as head coach and and Brown as head of football.

Apparently they are also the front runners for Mitch Moses in 2024.

the main thing being were to buy brown paper bags
It seems the entire NRL has become a corrupt organisation so it's little wonder clubs cheat the system themselves. Game is going downhill. And what's left for the clubs that play by the rules...well we are experiencing that right now.

There's no way a comp with a cap becomes so lopsided without certain individuals breaking and bending rules.

Spot on , we either be smart and go with the the others or stay in a group that abides by the rules and go nowhere fast .....
