New signing

THE Sydney Roosters are poised to sign the only kid who has ever outplayed Kangaroo superstar Israel Folau - his older brother.
The Daily Telegraph can exclusively reveal that Tevita Folau is training at Bondi Junction after serving two years as a Mormon missionary in Hong Kong.
Still only 22, the unknown centre has been pressing his claims in anonymity for a fortnight largely because of the ongoing Willie Mason saga.
But his younger brother - who happens to be the youngest Australian Test player in 100 years - says the tri-colours could soon have a big surprise packet alongside Mason.
"Because back when we were both younger, Tevita was definitely the star, not me,'' Storm hero Israel recalls with a laugh. "In our backyard games he always used to bash me up. Threw me around or tackled me straight into the brick wall of our house.
"We always talked about playing in the NRL together too. But playing against him ... yeah, that might be a bit more scary.''
So keen are the Roosters to keep the latest member of Folau Inc under wraps, club officials have taken the extraordinary step of placing the shy outside back on a media ban.
While happy to pose for The Daily Telegraph photographer at training, the Logan Brothers flyer is now on the same "off limits'' deal that welcomed brother Israel to Melbourne.
"No, he won't be talking just yet,'' manager Isaac Moses concurs. "But to be honest we didn't think anyone knew about this.''
If the elder Folau is granted a contract by Roosters coach Brad Fittler, he will be the second member of the family to add his signature to the club's books.
Younger sibling Eni, a 15-year-old prop scouted by Arthur Beetson, is also on a Roosters scholarship while completing his education at Marsden High School, Brisbane.
"Obviously Eni is a very different style of player to me,'' Israel explains. "He has an average height but a lot of skills for a prop or second-rower.''
And this, the 2007 Melbourne premiership hero adds, is the biggest problem for Tevita.
"Oh, he has definitely missed out on a lot of football because of his mission,'' he adds. "Even in the years before he went away he had to give footy away so he could work weekends and save money for his trip.
"So he'll need some time to get his skills back, but I honestly don't think it will take him long. I mean, we talk over the phone and he asks me a few things, questions about little aspects of his game.
"But he has gone to Sydney to try to make a name for himself and I really believe he can do that.''
So what chance Folau Inc one day dominating the competition like the Walters or Mortimer boys.
"We all talked about that when we were younger - playing together in the NRL,'' Folau says. "But we also understand the reality is that's probably not going to happen.
"And so I don't think there is any pressure on my brothers at all. They're different players, different people. They're going to have a go but if they don't make it then so be it. There are still many other things they can do with their lives.''

CONGRATULATIONS TERRY ROWNEY,

I AM A BIT PEEVED THAT THE ROOSTERS HAVE STOLEN YOUR THUNDER THOUGH, YOUR INTERVIEW ON TALKIN SPORT LAST SATURDAY WHEN YOU EXCLUSIVELY LET THE RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD KNOW OF NEWTOWN SIGNING ISRAEL FOLAU'S BROTHER!!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TERRY, IT SEEMS THAT YOU ARE A ONE HORSE SHOW WITH ALL THE HARD WORK YOU DO GOING UN-NOTICED BY LOTS OF PEOPLE.

IT'S A SHAME YOUR MEDIA LIAISON OFFICER, GLENN O'DWYER DIDN'T SHOW ENOUGH FORESIGHT TO POST IT ON NEWTOWNS WEB SITE BEFORE THE ROOSTERS TOOK FULL VALUE OF YOUR TREMENDOUS WORK

Cursed Jet!

I join in with you in congratulating Terry!

Without Terry, the Club would have folded a few years ago.

You cannot give anyone greater praise, than being the savior of our beloved Club!

right up until the point of Narellan being sold and he stakes a claim of "money"owed...

this will happen, as sure as night follows day

my tongue was so far entrenched in my cheek I almost required plastic surgery when i posted this thread bb43.

The Roosters sign players, yes, they may get financial assistance from newton, but Terry's rabbling bull crap on Talkin sport was nothing short of self appraisal and demeaning to wards the club

you obviously did not hear him goosing himself!!!

Cursed Jet,

I must say I walked into that one!

I was very suprised at your change attitude.

I don't think Terry will be asking for money from the sale of the Club's share of Narellan, but I might be very naive!

YES BLUEBAG43 YOU ARE VERY NAIVE, ONE WOULD HOPE THAT WOULD NOT HAPPEN, HOWEVER IF IT DID IT WOULD PROBABLY SEE THE END OF NEWTOWN FOOTBALL CLUB.

NO-ONE COULD EVER QUESTION THAT HE HAS PUT IN OVER THE YEARS. BUT AT NO TIME IN ANY OF THE FINANCIAL REPORTS HAS A 'LOAN' BEEN RECORDED ON THE BOOKS! SO IF THE SALE IS TO GO AHEAD AS WAS MENTIONED BY BARRY AT THE LAST AGM WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING TO BE INVESTED?? IS THEIR ANY NEED FOR IT TO BE REPAID?? ONLY TIME WILL TELL!!!

PERHAPS I AM THE NAIVE ONE???

When will the club make announcements on the website about signings? Some were posted on the Roosters website for Newtown but not ours as yet.

Hi guys I am new here as you can tell and not out to attack anyone, I am a roosters fan and only just found out about this site and thpught I would come for a visit and offer my thoughts, so bear with me. I get to Henson for all junior rep games and Jet games as well so figure I support the club pretty well.

I rarely visit the Jets site as I have found out that it is not always updated regularly enough, except for promotions on merchandise which I do like but is a bit exxy.

When I have rung to buy some gear I am sent down to the Local Derby but they really have little stock on hand and have then had to go to the club and the office I am told is usually locked and have to wait for the bar staff who are very friendly thankfully. This has only happened twice but is it ususal for the office to be unattended all the time and the staff are not sure if anyone is in at all.

At the moment we get so much information about our team it is great but it is very hard to find out about what the Jets are doing at all, why the secrets?

I have read all the posts here and have hard a laugh about the cursed jet, we had have these fans for many years but they are entitled to their opinion so dont worry about them. Perhaps if there was more to talk about then these people would disappear. You guys are also very lucky as the roosters membership is limited, I am lucky to be a football club member and not just a season ticket holder whereas you guys all get the chance to vote so enjoy it.

G day mate. Have you been to a Henson Park game yet. You will have to come on down to a home game. There are stalls full of all the styles of jets clothing at the home games. The ideas expressed on the website are of the minority views mate anyway, and the website has been quieter than I hyave EVER seen since it's conception.

Would be good to see you at henson in 2008 anyway cobber. Big year for the Roosters next year too mate, you must be excited. With the team they have and freddy at the helm they'll make the eight if they show up for only half the games. ;-)
