Tolman lives in Caringbah and would fix a lot of our ruck issues. Useless with the ball though

I'd be looking at keeping Trindall letting the rest go. My goals would be to add some depth and experience to the squad by looking at;
  • A fullback to challenge Kennedy. Jordan Kahu isn't a sexy name but can fill a number of positions, kick goals and has experience for cheap.
  • A proper back up 9 to challenge Brailey. Nathan Peats surely is not going to be getting any big offers and can plug a gap off the bench as a middle forward if needed.
  • Then if there was cash left over I'd be trying to find that middle worker our pack is missing. We have so many impact middles - Hunt, Toby, Uele, Fifita or offensive props like Woods but we do not have a real worker besides Jack Williams who has his issues. Tolman for his faults could be a nice addition as would a guy like Matthew Eisenhuth or Elijah Taylor.
Other players like George Jennings, Caleb Aitkens add some experience for cheap. We hit a home run with the jets players coming in but we are tremendously under experienced and need some older heads to push these kids. Crazy thing is all those players I mentioned are likely out of our price range for 2021.

End of next season we can part ways with Moylan, Dugan and possibly Johnson if he doesn't recover. Then we can buy some exciting players.

Some good points, but on Brailey I doubt we'll get a hooker to challenge him.

He's a gun, and only going to be even better next year with another pre season and feels more comfortable taking control when required as he seems a bit shy at times. We can get some depth to cover injuries but doubt we'll get anyone to challenge him. The 9 is his till he doesn't want it.

or we replace him with Taj

I think we can do better than the middle forwards you suggested. Doesn't feel like much of an upgrade.

Taj is 5 years away

Do you mean Caleb Aekins? 22 years old and 12 games in 2018. Not really experienced.
I know but he has been in an NRL system for 3 seasons and played a similar amount to Kennedy. We do not have a lot of options. We need Kennedy to be pushed and Moylans body can't.

Also I am all in on Brailey but if he goes down who is our 9? Tracey? Another kid who hasn't debuted yet? We need some depth.

Much as he seems a good bloke, tolman just doesn’t offer enough. He is too involved with too little impact. Being ok is not enough.

Benji for one year also at pinch covers Brailey

Benjii isn't a hooker's clacker.. he has none of the attributes required of a 9. But I don't mind him as a signing if Johnson's recovery is 9-12 months... I'd bring him in and tell him he's an SJ clone that runs out in the 6 or 7 until Johnson's back, then he's a Jet. Townsend/Trindall as the two 7's, Tracey is the 14 and covers Benji while SJ's out. Won't happen though..

Echoing the back end of this thread, 2021 is a good year for experienced journeymen to push and give some support, I'd honestly be considering people as NSW Cup signings with NRL experience... the squad we've got is solid and will improve with a full off-season together, the guy's I'd bring in would be the kind of stop gaps who can come into firsts and give your young guys time to go back to NSW Cup to work on a couple of things.

I love the idea of Tolman, who isn't great, but is a Craig Stapleton like signing...he'll do a lot of good for those young guys. When BHU, Rudolph, etc need some time, he can plug a hole. Again...tell him he's a Jets signing who comes into firsts.

Same deal for hooker cover, I'd keep developing Tracey as a half and get him working on his decision making and make yet another Jets signing for the 9. I'm happy with Cameron King on minimum wage tbh, he was looking good in the trials. Don't think Peats will come, and I see him ending up at the Dogs or the Broncs.

Frenzy.

Kyle Patterson will be in the top squad next year. There's your back up hooker.

That plan is in place

Eisenhuth would be much better than Tolman and probably cheaper. Both plodders though. Gal can give him a call.

Same issue though. Another kid who is unproven and has to learn.

Tolman is apparently being looked at as a Prior replacement which is exactly what we missed. How many times did we get steam rolled through the middle this year? I wish we could get Prior back.
