Great news! The Leeds-USA connection continues. Good to see they're serious about the road to WC2017.

Strong appointment, apart from anything else he's a good guy and will have the best intentions for the sport.

I was really disappointed with Matt Elliot when he had the chance to spruik the USA team when he appeared on The Footy show before the WC, said absolutely nothing about the US team.

Not only is Brian McDermott an excellent coach (should have the England job ahead of McNamara IMO) but he's also a really good guy with the game's best interests at heart. When he was at London he went out of his way to help coaches at the local community clubs - right away noticing that although they had been on courses many of them were new to the game either from other sports or getting involved through their kids. He set up a CPD programme for them, he held events at the Broncos HQ, and he went to individual clubs to offer advice to players, coaches and volunteers. He really bought into the game down here and did his absolute best to help push it forward.

If he does even half of that in the US - and I'm pretty certain he will if he gets the opportunity - then this appointment will do wonders for the game over there at all levels.
