New Years Resolutions

This is something that means more to me then probably Christmas... mainly because it's a window of where I'd like to be at the end of 2006.

For the past years, my goal has been to get into better shape then I currently was (130kgs) and transform fat to muscle. So where for 2006?

I'll be working on a couple of goals.

* Lose more weight and get a body I'm proud of. Charley knows what I'm talking about here. The last two years I've been gyming it, they have been learning curves on how I train and the best way of doing things. In 2005 I've learnt alot about nutritian and will look to maxamise 2006. Already I'm adding 2-3 morning jogs to my week and looking to add a session of lap swimming.

* Gaining a licence. Not a car licence, but I'm hoping to get a motorbike. With me working more in Newcastle, I think a motorbike will be a cheap and cool way of getting around the great city of Newcastle.

* Building a home. Lets face it, my house is sh*t... I hate it mainly because it doesn't seem like a home to me... just a place we're a couple of people sleep. When the lease is over in April, I want to find a house and start building a nice home, a home to be proud of.

* Paying off debts. After taking out a student loan back in 2003, I would like to start paying it off. I do have 5 years without interest but I'm thinking it's better to get some of it out of the way now, instead of years down the track when my situation might not be as fortunate.

They are my main goals for the 2006 year. What about you guys? Do you take it as serious as me, or is it something that you say you'll do but never do it....

Magro, are you trying to become cut up, just shed the pounds or just big muscles in general?

I'm going to get cut up... my original plan was to just shed weight and then bulk up, but it's easier and quicker if I do the bulking up now. Plus I love power lifting at the moment.

Swimming will be my training session for abs and back... since there are too many machines which help you... only about 3

Yeah, if your trying to get cut up, swimming is not the answer.

Because your body is in the cool if not cold water, your body naturally deposits fat around ur body to keep yourself warm.

If you really want to get cut, do exercises such as boxing with 2-5kg weights in each hand, sit-ups and such...

That's true... I've been looking at starting up boxing once a week but to my knowledge the closest circuit is in Hamilton... and for someone who works alot it's a little hard to get to.

The main swimming I do btw is brest stroke. My key area at the moment is the peck and ab region. Brest stroke to my knowledge is good for burning fat and building muscle in that area.

So what about you Benny? What's your 2006 goal?

I don't make New Years resolutions because I know that I won't stick to them, but rather, I make short-term goals during the year which I know I will stick to.

You dont need a session, i could basically write up an hour set for you to stick by if you have the will power, and 2-3kg weights, and 2-5kg weights... i dont thats why i cant do it yet

Try doing brest stroke with a pull-boy Magro, that works exceptionally well on ur abs aswell.

I tend to set myself short-term goals, but i suppose my aims next year are to get a UAI above 80, and to go to the SG-ball Trials.

Mine are:

- Get down to about 80kgs. I've lost 6kgs since I started dieting in September, which means I'd need to cut another nine kilograms to reach my target weight. I'm not vain or driven by social expectations, so just having lost enough weight to feel comfortable is fine by me.
- Get good marks at Uni. I'm starting a new degree in teaching and I want to get the marks I know I'm capable of.
- Get into a meaningful relationship. I've had two pointless relationships this year (Tammin would be proud) and I'd like to actually get into a real relationship next year. That said, it's not something I can really 'resolve' to do. Romance is 80% chance.
- Find a home situation I'll enjoy. No offence to the people I live with, but I don't like my home situation at all.

I don't make New Years Resolutions. I don't know why though... it's not that I don't stick to it, it's more finding what I want to achieve in the year.

New Year's Resolutions
- Start exercising again (which I've kinda started... but want to make a routine out of it)
- Put more effort and time into uni and placements for my final year (not impressed with my recent scores, or effort to be honest)
- Pay off debts as much as possible

More to the point... I want to do all those things: work, uni and exercise/start getting fit again, so maybe my overall resolution is to be more positive and to use time management more constructively

I'm gonna resolve to be a bit braver. I'm a bit of a chicken in terms of going for things i really want like guys and ideas and goals i want to persue.

Nope not really, I did chicken out of coming up once a few months ago, but that's just because i only knew a couple of you guys, then when i really wanted to come up work was in the way. I hold a different position at work now which allows me a bit more time, so next year i'll be up a couple times for sure.

I don't usually bother much with Resolutions but you lot have inspired me so;

Get to at least 3 games of footy in Newy (top priority)
Eat more fruit and veg (but not necessarily diet)
Take better care of myself (emotionally, mentally, physically)
Do more things that make ME happy
Post more on this forum:p

I figure debt will always be around, and the diet resolutions haven't worked in the past so next year I'm going to concentrate on appreciating and rewarding myself.
