Why are you mentioning a whole bunch of stuff that is incomparable with 1995? As @Matiunz explained in his post that you responded to without actually acknowledging the content of the post the fanfare for the Warriors was absolutely crazy in 1995.

Also, we didn't need a stupid saying from a podcaster to drive support for the team in 1995.

And as good as the sellouts have been they have been on the back of discounted tickets (don't have a problem with that, it's working a treat and bringing fans in) which didn't happen back in 1995.
He said that today's support isn't " unprecedented" when clearly it is.
If you add up all the tick ticks, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and streaming that happens today.. there's way more support for the Warriors than 95.

Can't be bothered quoting, but yeah capacity at Mt Smart has reduced significantly. Back then the East stand was uncovered, and then had scaffold seating in the South Stand (still do) it used to extend right round to the west stand so they virtually connected. They also sold tickets for the hill, which I don't think they do anymore. From time to time since they've put up scaffold seating in the north to increase ticket capacity, and correct me if I'm wrong but for a time they also had temp seating directly on the embankment in the corner closest to the tunnel.

They were definitely a hot ticket item in 1995, but Super League and the introduction of professional union took a lot of the glitz off in 1996. 1997 was a disaster - but it was for most clubs in both leagues.

What do we think of the “ we are the Warriors a hundred percent “ song?

I think it’s corny as f…
It’s the team victory song. It’s got mixed opinions , some like the engagement som think it should be reserved for the players only. Experiencing it live after a win with the whole crowd singing does fire you up- better than those old timey AFL showtimes they roll out

No, you can't quantify that against previous eras where that didn't exist, and it's silly to claim otherwise.

We have a victory song? 😉

Even It's a Matter of Faith has been ruined for me after Mariner Jnr chose Samoa over NZ.

So, you understand the meaning of the word " unprecedented" ..
Come back when you do.
Are this disingenuous in your real life? You're just trying to shift the goalposts from popularity to technology.

Here's a question for you, do you think Super Rugby is more popular now or before the days of social media/YT etc?
Because man the social media for rugby is way better now then back before social media existed, ergo Super Rugby is at it's peak. It's unprecedented.

In 1995 we had a regular bus from Hamilton up to Auckland for all Winfield Cup games, my Mum used to come up on bus trips from Hawkes Bay (5 hours drive), the Warriors were all over the media and had bog name sponsorship, the players were all as big a household name as the ABs of the time. It was massive.

Feels to me like you're comparing living in NZ in 95 with living in Australia today.. you don't see a distortion in your opinion? lol

The social media show a popularity that the Warriors are experiencing are massive. This is real time sharing of Warriors experience from Auckland to Duneden.. to Las Vegas..
Not on the bus from Hamilton to Auckland lol

Things go viral today, the amount of fan experiences today are far greater today just on access alone.

If you want to drag everything to " back in your day".. bla bla bla.. all we have is crowds.

O and a bloke recalling a wonderful bus trip..

It like you're stuck in 1995, the peak of your life.
Sorry pal.

Unlike you and your alternate universes of travelling to and living in NZ, I'm actually back in NZ enough and talk to people who are actual Warriors fans and who attend games, to know more than the bollocks you spout because you watch tik tok.

Mate, you already won the argument.
The bus trip remember?!!!?

" Talk to people who are Warriors fans"

I'm glad we got to the bottom of that. Case closed lol

Bus trips bro, multiple, we also drove up for some of the games too. The HB bus only came up for a few matches though.

But good of you to concede.

Would have been an awesome time for sure.
It was, wasn't the peak of my life, but great time. Uni student so no commitments, cheap beer, regular trips up to the "big" city to watch the Warriors - got to see Dean Bell play in the flesh, a not shit Warriors team.

1996 shaded it though, and you'll love this part, all of the above but with the addition of the first Super Rugby, Tri Nations, and a winning AB tour of South Africa.
