new Zealand aren’t crap.

i Blame Australia for being shortsighted.

cool and I’ll be watching it all the way mate as I support international RL.

narrow minded state of origin not so much.
Did you watch the last World Cup ?
All the top teams were from the nrl

even England can’t field a side without nrl players

australia are playing nz at the end of the year

meanwhile origin is worth 100 million pa for the nrl but yet let’s try and lessen that out of jealousy lol

sure did and That’s why we need to play more internationals.

good. I want more English players to head down under and play in the NRL.

not jealousy mate but more frustration that a trans-Tasman test series or pacific 4nations tournament could be just as big if not bigger given the chance.

So what has the arl done to make origin so big then ?

We had ashes tours and the trans-Tasman test series in the 80’s as well.
Yeh exactly

why did one die off and one become a massive success

fyi interstate rugby games go back to the 1890s or so

by 1980 they had basically died off played before a crowd of hundreds midweek

when origin rules were first Introduced the Sydney media mocked it and said it would fail

despite that animosity it became what it is

In the 80's the majority, like 90% of players in the NSWRL we Aussies meaning Australians were playing against sub par opposition and the best players were ALL Aussies, so naturally QLD VS NSW the best vs the best and obviously better than Australia v NZ.
2023 and the premier comp now NRL and Aussies are only 50% of the comp with NZ and Island nations making up the rest of the comp meaning origin is no longer the best v the best
Australia vs NZ today would be a higher concentration of talent and will in the next decade become the pinnacle of the sport again.

like I said mate you’ve got form from your Covid vaccine stance and I comment on things because I can and because this is a discussion forum thank you very much.

exploited by way of the NRL introducing a second NZ franchise whilst super rugby in NZ is currently on a downward trajectory.

nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition mate, just look at Queensland with the addition of the dolphins competing against the broncos, titans, RU, AFL and A-league.

there’s room for everybody mate, embrace progression and growth.
My covid vaccine stance? I'm pro vaccine like most normal functioning people.

And I see you're now walking back your language (i.e. softening exploit), that's fine, as I said earlier thumbs up for for your comments about not wanting people to lose jobs etc. I just pointed out how your earlier language did not reflect that.

Bro, test match league between NZ and Oz was relatively bloody close in the 1980s (Oz won the majority but most of the games were close and some were nailbiters) and it was an era of some Kiwis legends. Without the Kiwis teams of the 80s the Winfield Cup wouldn't have a had a chance to gain a foothold in the early 90s. I would never have played league without the Kiwis of that era.

There weren't many Kiwis in Oz at that time due to the transfer fee structure of the period.

no, no, no mate. Unfortunately for you I remember your pro mandate stance and that you were willing to not only isolate and ostracize people who wanted to practice body autonomy regarding the trial vaccines.

not walking anything back mate regarding exploiting and taking advantage of super rugby’s current downward trajectory by introducing NZ2.

One off tests matches

the advent of the warriors turned around rugby league in nz and the warrriors have largely been awful for 30 years

despite their lack of success off the field the warriors are a very valuable club

the decision by the arl to add the warriors to the was a visionary act

and we all remember the Kevin tamati brawl

It was mostly series in the 80s, not one off tests.

As for the rest you're punching shadows, kind of like Greg Dowlings hay makers ;), I wasn't limiting the Warriors in anyway.

Ok so you I take back my thumbs up then, and can happily conclude you're bullshitting when claiming you don't want people to lose jobs.

As for the the covid stuff, go to the covid thread and back slap your buddy Shirls and your looney mate Lebbo if you want to whine about that.
