"We’ll lose kids to union and they’ll lose kids to us, but don’t dictate to them and that’s been a blanket approach across the country for a number of years."

Hmm yet another thing the Union lovers on here say doesn't happen. Quite a bit of that coming out over the last 825 pages. Well done @Gobsmacked

Cam George mentioned in the members forum this week that the NRL put $40m into both QLD and NSW but despite 40% of playing numbers NZ Recieved $1.5m…

I’m not trying to undersell at all what NZ is doing for the game and want to see another team over there and more money spent on development ,,,

However the 40 percent of NRL players might have been born in NZ, but many were actually developed in QLD and NSW…moving over to Aust at young ages

wouldn't that be because nsw cup and queensland cup are the premier reserve grade comps with the best set up pathways therefore to maintain what is working, money has to keep getting pumped into it?
Better set up definitely but you’d also think considering the player base and potential player base NZ offers it’d be well worth putting more funding into NZ having a 3rd option outside of NSW and QLD would surely be good for the game?

Imagine where they wouldn’t have to go to NSW or QLD to develop but could do that in NZ? Would be great to have a 3rd genuine pathway

30 percent are from nz

And a good chunk were developed outside the kiwi system by Aussie clubs

Plus a second nrl side will find way more juniors than increasing nzrl funding by a few million

NZRL sure, but the Warriors pathways are funded which is extra.

NSW and QRL are shareholders of the ARLC, of course they get more. NZRL is a separate entity. If NZRL want similar funding they could choose to come under the umbrella and they would get funded at the same level but keep sovereignty over the Kiwis as NSW and QLD do with the origin sides. There'd be plenty of benefits to it, the choice is up to NZRL.

Just quoting the figure Cam George used, yeah majority of kiwi players certainly aren’t developed in the NZ systems mainly because the NZRL runs on the smell of an oily rag

Credit to @shadowformz for posting this
Wow, Rolleston was a sleepy little town the last time I passed through it 20 odd years ago so I was surprised to see they had a high school. A little bit of wiki-ing shows that the population increased like crazy due to the earthquake (from around 2k in 2000 to over 30k now). The school was only created in 2017 and has over 1500 students, but plays it's rugby in a combined team of 3 other high schools. I wonder if they'll do the same with a league team now?

I assume investments like this are pretty good for the NRL clubs, they don't have to invest too much as the majority of facilities are all ready there and it gives them a spot in NZ to send kids in the holidays for camps etc.

Well there's your problem, he's mostly full of tutae, and if he's saying them in those two poorly researched articles on the previous page then I'd really take it with a grain of salt.

It’s not exactly a wrap for the Warriors though is it ? …. Should have had a lot more success ..
Yep, the Warriors have been shit for 30 years. They only seem to get the real obvious stand out players in NZ and overlook anyone else to the point where they don't see any value in a Kenny-Dowall or a Bromwich. Or even if they have a player they can't use them properly and they go on to star elsewhere like a Taukeiaho.

Kiwis in the Aussie systems are better players
Yep, and we've been telling you all thread the domestic game in NZ needs to improve. ;)
