New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

You’re comparing the NRL season to the Super Rugby season which is comparing apples with oranges.
The NZ rugby deal includes 16 weeks of Super Rugby + 8 Weeks of Women’s SR + 12 weeks of Both Men’s and Women’s NPC + 7 weeks of both men’s and Women’s Sevens + 12 All Black Test as well as What ever the Black ferns +Maori+ NZA play. Pretty Much January is the only Month with no content.
I’ve seen you comment a number of times that NZ posters were saying the sky bid for NRL would be lower? All I remember seeing is a few saying sky has limited funds and it would be highly unlikely that NZ2 would double the Bid- The reduced Union bid could be due to decreased interest but it could equally be due to sky struggling financially.
So it’s the nrls fault it’s a more successful club competition ?

Right now one nz nrl team is pretty much beating five nz super rugby team on its own

If you’re a broadcaster you can pay 32 million for one code which gets more viewers overall than the other rugby code that costs 100 million

I did say Dazn could be an alternative to sky nz

The nz deal tv is a tiny part of the total revenue of the game 3.5 percent). Unlike for the nzru where it’s 40 percent of their total revenue)

I don't think any announcement on team 20 would happen this year nor next either (until they have to, depending on the timing of when the NRL want to see team 20 operational).

The time will be spent continuing to monitor the situation in NZ, as well as other markets, put more feelers out in NZ, see how the Warriors continue to go, discuss with federal/state governments, discuss deals with TV networks etc etc As well they might want to see how PNG and Perth go for any insights and learnings.

The NRL has said they want to get to 20 by Brisbane 2032. So I would expect we may not hear anything officially for the next few years.

There would be no advantage of making any team 20 announcements in the next 3 years at least if they want them to be in the comp from 2030 onwards.

Does the NRL need to even "buy" games, haven't teams like the Dogs been able to negotiate a deal from the local council etc to take games to regional NZ before?
Dogs,Eels,Tigers,Manly have all tried it in the past and not stuck around for the full term so I’d only assume it’s either A:Not financially viable or B:Having a ‘home’ game where 99% of the crowd is against you isn’t desirable

You are deliberately twisting what I’m saying, never mentioned anything about the NRLs success nor ‘blamed them’
The rugby Audience is significantly more than just super rugby and you are taking a portion of one and comparing it to the whole of the other.
Of course the Warriors should outrate most of the super rugby sides- as you said it’s dividing one Audience by 5 and the other by 1, also factor in much of the Audience is watching 1/5 SR teams AND the Warriors

Lmao now whose twisting

The fact the warriors are beating five super rugby sides combined isn’t because union is splitting the market between five teams

Add in npc and all blacks tests it won’t matter league will get the most viewers over its season

And despite that gets half what union gets bc of the all blacks halo

Remember half the nrl games are at really bad times for the nz market, let alone don’t even feature an nz team

Even if the nrl got an increase of ten million it will still be well less than the union deal and that’s with a second nz side starting in 2030 at the earliest

Bullseye. More people watching NRL doesn't necessarily mean less are watching union.

It also doesn't justify a second team.

I may have disqualified myself from the bestest rugby league fan eva! Trophy with this post.

Yeah, we'll ignore the direct correlation, reality that people generally don't watch 2 games at the same time and that every time someone that finds a new appreciation for a sport generally means a reduction in viewing another sport as people's disposable down time can't be extended indefinitely.

Kiwis who were keen to watch 2 to 3 games of Super Rugby and have time to ,now watch the Warriors and their SR intake has been reduced to 1 to 2..
The Addition of a second NZ team throws SR into a possible 0....

Of course you'll ignore all these obvious factors because you are a peanut.

Reports of the death of union in NZ seem somewhat premature:

No one proclaimed death. Simply that it's on that certain trajectory and of course it's never going to be completely.
It's more in revelance to it's place as a genuine competition to League in the pacific at least.
And a uptake of the game by young girls doesn't negate that belief. There's an uptake of contact sports by girls across the board. It's more related to a culture change than an interest in any particular sport.

If you pay close attention to the wording In the article regarding the boys... you'll see that this is another nice Union spin article, par for the course.
Sky aren't buying it.

I'll ignore it because it's nonsense, tripe and coming from a z grade clown like you.

Apart from any influence on the tv deal? Tv deal will run 2028-2032. You’d expect team 20 to come in mid point of the tv deal.

Isn’t the nz tv figures for 8 games of nrl a week, not just the warriors game?
