YesYou off the wagon again?
YesYou off the wagon again?
This post is comedy gold, which is par for the course I guess. No one proclaimed death. Simply that it's on that certain trajectory and of course it's never going to be completely.
It's more in revelance to it's place as a genuine competition to League in the pacific at least.
And a uptake of the game by young girls doesn't negate that belief. There's an uptake of contact sports by girls across the board. It's more related to a culture change than an interest in any particular sport.
If you pay close attention to the wording In the article regarding the boys... you'll see that this is another nice Union spin article, par for the course.
Sky aren't buying it.
damn cob, thats a check mate from you. good stuff and good insight too. i agrees with it all. This post is comedy gold, which is par for the course I guess.
You've been posting articles about increasing league participation mainly based on women's numbers for two years now. As has been pointed out to you many times numbers have been increasing for women in both codes and that's a good thing, not something to have a shitfight about. Mana wahine bro.
The increase in player numbers across the board is a good thing regardless of how you feel about, as will be any increase in league numbers at the community level when the stats are released.
Surely one of your two Kiwi multis is a fan of seeing increased participation in sport across both codes?
Obviously the article I posted went against his narrative. I hoped it would. This post is comedy gold, which is par for the course I guess.

gobby makes some decent points too. i get his view might differ but for every article saying one thing theres usually articles saying something contradictory plus interpretation of information could also differ because half the time reports are ambiguous because journos these days are trash at investigating full pictures. doesn't mean gobby or wb are idiots though. hell to some your points you make are dumb but again doesnt mean youre an idiot either.Obviously the article I posted went against his narrative. I hoped it would.
The timezone difference helps viewership, always has. On the weekend it follows on from the Super rugby matches or Warriors matches in NZ. It is one of the really good things about the time difference.Yeh and ?
Remember the Timezone difference
Yeh those games starting 10 30 pm Auckland time are great for kiwi viewersThe timezone difference helps viewership, always has. On the weekend it follows on from the Super rugby matches or Warriors matches in NZ. It is one of the really good things about the time difference.
Also, and this is a more broader point for you to see if you can wrap your head around it, Sky is not based on the individual ratings as the be all and end all, it's based on subscriptions, and despite the hype of the last two years rugby drives the subscriptions in NZ.
We have no viewership stats (yet) from the second half of the year when the Warriors were doing poorly, we don't know whether viewership held up. We also don't know if the current hype will continue. The entirety of your posting is premised on it continuing, something that most NZers, even the diehard fans of league only on here wouldn't be confident about because we've had dips and peaks consistently since the Warriors were introduced.
Don’t you have anything else to do all day?Yeh those games starting 10 30 pm Auckland time are great for kiwi viewers
Unlike all the super rugby games which feature at least one local team and prime tv slots
And if rugby union had so many subscribers the tv rights wouldn’t have fallen in half ?
Did any of you kiwi fans say the union rights were overvalued like many claimed for the leagues ones
That reads like a bunch of AI generated nonsenseBreaking new: New Zealand-based NRL expansion bid could be...
The NRL’s decision on whether to approve the New Zealand-based expansion bid will undoubtedly be one of the most significant...thechaseblog.com
decent write up
Pretty sure the “NZ” was dropped from the official team name years ago. It’s only included now when the sponsor name is included because One NZ are primary sponsor.I was looking at wiki & team was just listed as warriors
It isThat reads like a bunch of AI generated nonsense
They are usually 9:30/10 and yes they're perfect for watching after the earlier games. This is another case of you thinking you know better when the actual people who lived the experience are telling you different. I watched more NRL living in NZ due to the later games.Yeh those games starting 10 30 pm Auckland time are great for kiwi viewers

Your last sentence sums it upThey are usually 9:30/10 and yes they're perfect for watching after the earlier games. This is another case of you thinking you no better when the actual people who lived the experience are telling you different. I watched more NRL living in NZ due to the later games.
The rugby (and the league) weren't over valued at the time, there was competition, there isn't now.
Do you really believe the majority of Sky Sports subscribers aren't there for the rugby? You're genuinely deluded if you think that.
Interesting thought experiment. What would happen if the 2 Rugby codes merge for financial reasons in the future would NZ Souper teams just join the NRL for and Auckland having 2 teams being Wah's and Blues.
Good analysis. Very deep.Interesting thought experiment.
I think it would be a mess with joint ventures a possibility.

So it isnt just the warriors games v 5 NZ clubs is it then? Its NRL v super rugby in effect.Yeh and ?

Is there ANY stats available showing the ratings of Non Warriors nrl games in NZ? Or is that another baseless claim?Yeh
And even with dud timeslots and most games not having a local team present nrl is slaying
More people are watching nrl games not involved the warriors in nz than people are watching nrl in Perth
So most nrl games would clash with a super rugby game or be at a bad time slot ?Is there ANY stats available showing the ratings of Non Warriors nrl games in NZ? Or is that another baseless claim?
NZ super games tend to be scheduled in the 7:30pm time slot on Fri/Sat which historically tends to not clash with many Warriors away games and it’s only recently the Warriors have been getting more of the 8pm NZ/6pm AU games.
Increase in streaming offers a lot more flexibility in viewing times particularly with any clashes, also the increase in Minis makes it much easier to see more content with less time.
The NRL flowing on from a SR game in NZ helps viewership rather than hindering it- direct clashes hurt both codes
