Thanks for making my point. 116 NRL players born in NZ. Countless NZ born players in QRL cup and NSWRL cup as well as other age groups. Yet NZ couldn't possibly build a 10 side comp to match QRL? Please.
Maybe they should get img to fund it since they have been so good for rugby league

The Warriors CEO made a good point and that which I've been saying for some time. Unfortunately he doesn't recognise that they're one and the same. If he wants a well funded domestic league and pathways, that'll only happen AFTER the introduction of a second team.. if you did it before then it effectively becomes a feeder comp for Australian clubs.. which then becomes his ' flight complaint × 10.

The Warriors are already spending money on developing players with the added costs of travelling. That same amount of money and resources could fund double the amount of development domestically, that's 2 clubs.
Assuming a second franchise spends on development akin to the rest of the comp , it would support around the same...
Other NRL clubs will want a slice of that talent also..
It's a walk over across the board . A strong 8 team domestic league, growing to 10.
Probably a small TV deal and local sponsorship opportunities also, it'll pay for itself.

All hinges on a second team.

Unfortunately for George, he kinda finally admitted he wants another NZ team ..

Even if they spent 30 million pa on a local comp the standard would be crap cause it’s them facing each other and not elite Aussies

Why do you think the best kiwi players aren’t produced by the warriors

All the talent in the world won’t make up for being used to playing 80 minutes of top level each week

Remember when the wahs used to lose games in the last ten minutes all the time despite having huge leads

Warriors ceo is just trying to get benefits for his club not necessarily what’s best for nz2

Orcas have said they will be investing in local academies around nz

Those kids then feed into the under 16 to under 21 who play in the Aussie comps
You are actively arguing against PNG ever becoming a place that produces talent here.

But, really only a f**king moron would argue against trying to develop grassroots RL outside of QLD and NSW.

again, you clearly dont watch qrl and therefore dont understand how competitive the comp is even weaker resourced clubs can push deep into finals at any given season.

But according to you its worthless. And shouldn't be replicated anywhere outside of QLD or NSW?

Its a f**king stupid argument, and you should feel stupid for saying it.

It’s not worth the nrl spending 35 million pa on it no

Though to be fair I would cut funding to the qrl and nswrl too

Nyc coming back then hopefully national reserve grade so we have clear pathways to the nrl

That’s the way forward

Thats the govt spending OUR money on it.
Yeh as long as its not coming from the nrl im sweet with that

They can take it out of the 2 billion a year they are paying for subs America will never deliver or the hundreds of millions they gave Telstra to buy digicel pacific

it isn't $60m on just papua, it's just over half of that. the other lower half is going to pacific development of the game. thats how it was broken down in announcement.

$290 million for the franchise = $29m p/ season on papua
$250 million for rugby league partnerships across the Pacific $25m p/ season on pacific development
$60 million once off payment for all clubs & game as a license fee.
