@Gobsmacked 16 players there 175 cm and over

Tallest is 196 cm lol
You do realise when I said 7 I was kidding right?
I think we would have already been awash with talented papuans if they were there.
We might pick it up from where it is but not by much and hopefully that helps the national side.

I want a PNG team and I think it could be amazing for the poor folks living there but it ain't going to be a powerhouse.

A side full of png juniors has been playing in the qld cup for what ten ? Years

They beat the titans yesterday

The issue of height is a bs one

Their schoolboy league system is basically non existent

They are now getting elite coaching which includes access to elite nutrition and a continuous pathway to the elite level

PNG players are littered throughout the Super League though and have been for years. We are starting to see PNG players be picked up by other QRL clubs. The investment will further development the talent there. The Hunters NRL club won’t be limited to only PNG players neither.

I don’t see that … if it’s not pulling its own weight then the NRL will cut bait pretty quick …

pulling its own weight can include providing players ( similar to NZ although numbers will obviously be different for a considerable time)
The NRL have never valued production of players as "value" and the clubs sure as shit don't.

If it's a endless money pit (and it will be) it's go no chance of survival

someone else who can see the future …

Nothing stays the same for ever .., maybe how they “value” that might change … they gotta get their players from somewhere … 10 , 20 years down the track and hundreds of millions of dollar could change a lot of things in respect of junior development over there …not saying it’s a given though etc usual disclaimers

Guess that’s nz dollars

So when the salary cap rises for the next tv deal the warriors and chch would be able to offer the highest wages to get the best talent in nz

Ponga is said to be offered 2 million pa and that’s before the salary cap rises from 2028 onwards

Their schoolboy side just drew with Australia

Why do you continually repeat this lie? Junior Kumuls are not a schoolboys side.

The kunuls have defeated great Britain in tests

Once in the last 30 years.

They won the pacific bowl comp against sides full of nrl players who were taller

Full? The Fijian side had Taane Milne playing backrow, and only 1 other forward who had played more than a couple of NRL games.

It’s a bs argument

Everything you post is BS.

The key is to get the best 30 youngsters throughout PNG at u16,u18 and u20 level and base them all in Port Moresby with access to the best training facilities, coaches and dieticians and watch not only their rugby brains grow but their actual bodies and physical shape grow.

im sure with the best foods available a young kumul from the age of 15 to 20 would at least grow an extra 2-3 inches taller similar to those in Australia and New Zealand who have access to all the best foods needed to help fuel and develop a young athlete.

I would also setup 3-4 other regional academy centres spread throughout PNG for schoolboys aged between 12-15 with similar access to training facilities, coaching and foods/nutrition programs etc before being funnelled into the main one in Port Moresby.

The pilot program last year had 270 kids

And it’s been expanded

You could do all that now for a fraction of the cost of running an NRL team.
PNG need a national school boys comp
They don't have enough money for actual education frameworks.

A "luxury" like this is a pipe dream.
