The Bears or spme sugar-daddy who can meet whatever bar the NRL deems acceptable.

While the Bears may be the most straightforward & obvious money-men, any Christchurch bid has to consider the tradeoff on colors & branding.

The price of such an arrangement is they don't get to use a NZ-themed brand, and they don't get to use province-neutral colors that can appeal outside Christchurch.
Ns fans might have a stroke but.....

There seems to be a perception that Christchurch is just sitting there ready to go whereas it’s pretty clear that the NRL weren’t too impressed with either of the Keas nor Orcas to the point of not even bothering to meet them when they were in town. Te Kaha is also often lumped in as part of this bid but is being built to replace the earthquake damaged Lancaster/Jade/AMI with zero thought of an NRL team yet some are acting like it is being built as part of the bid.
Not saying it won’t happen but it appears that any NZ2 team needs quite a bit of work done to make it a reality and (at least openly) the NRL haven’t appeared to do much- if anything- to further develop the bid.

Perth on the other hand seem to keep getting in its own way and trying its hardest to make an almost sure thing not happen.

I want both to happen and just be done with it but at this stage Perth seems a better bet of just finding a middle ground vs a ground up build of NZ 2
From what we see is happening in Perth, If there is not going to be money ( presumably from a government ) to be provided to the start up club to spend on things like a Center or Excellence and/or put into Junior Development, then any NZ bid is not getting past first base

This certainly does not justify treating the bid parties with rudeness/ contempt which appears to have happened prior to the Aust v NZ game last year ,but moving on from that , there probably isn’t much point in the NRL “further developing “ anything until a party comes to the table with something concrete to offer ..

“Asked if the feared collapse of a Perth bid would put the Bears into NRL hibernation for good, V’landys vowed to do everything possible to return North Sydney to the top flight.

The ARL Commission is exploring a second NRL team in New Zealand and a fifth franchise in Queensland. Both of those regions could be asked to strike a joint-venture deal with the Bears if the Telstra Premiership expands to 20 teams by the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.“

Its all about the Bears, all the time.

If I was cynical I would say the NRL don't give two shits about expansion, there primary focus is on resurrecting club from last century, just so a few thousand boomers can feel good.

Good thing you aren't cynical then.

Christchurch Bears has a nice ring to it!
if it happens, Perth won't get a team for another 20 years. I don't have the time for to wait for that.

So if Brisbane Tigers or any other consortium out of QLD who want to bid for a licence they need to establish a partnership with the Bears. Or will other consortia have different criteria they need to meet?

Here's a thought, why don't they just lump the Bears with PNG. Bears get to re-enter the comp and PNG get a Sydney fan base and pathways. A win for everyone (except RL supporters).

Easts Brisbane do need a different brand if they ever going to get into the competition. Firehawks was terrible.

Ipswich seems to be forming a bid around the jets (with or without Newtown)

Shame easts tigers aren’t involved

They are being penalised for being in broncos territory

Show me one post where you weren't cynical? One. That's literally all you do . You're not on board with anything, ever.
