Metallica's last album was released in 1988, before the Evil Imposters took full control of the bodies of Hetfield, Ulrich and Hammett. Burton was pure and couldn't be subverted, and Newstead didn't know what happened that night on an icy Swedish road on the 27th of September 1986.

And Justice for All, Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning.....the real Metallica.

Black album is the only thing today's "Metallica Diehards" know.

only people who play music can appreciate the albums after black ..... songs like 'bleeding me' from load .. masterpieces !

saw them at entertainment centre and BDO last year ... they were AWESOME !

Sure the new albums are good music. i can totally understand why the band moved in that direction. (Except St Anger, that was a pathetic attempt to re-capture something that died with Cliff.)
I just am unable to form any kind of emotional attachment to the later stuff. It does not move me, possess me or give me the feral joy that their early albums did.
And I would love to hear Justice re-mastered to include the bass track they turned down as a hazing ritual.

Justice is my favourite album of all time, even if Metallica don't really like it so much.
