newcastle league salary cap

In the paper today, the clubs in the Newcastle comp have voted to bring in a 200k salary cap and a points system.
Not sure and i can't find it anywhere, but i think the JB Cup has a 160k salary cap and the Toyota cup 150k.

Some of the Newcastle sides will have to cut wages, and they have already said it will be impossible to police because there are no plans to pay someone to audit the clubs.

Anyway - not sure how this will go - i suspect the points system might make a difference because it is policeable, but the rich clubs will rort the cap.

The Sun Herald reported 250k for the top 20 today.
ok - that sounds more like it - i found the 150k in a net article and thought it seemed low.

Salary cap in Jim beam is 150k i think. but like any league comp except the NRL there is no one to enforce it. so teams spend what they like, some teams in JBC 150k probably covers half a dozen of their players.

Good, maybe teams like Wests Newcastle and Wyong can stop buying their way to the top.

very hard to enforce, as has been mentioned.

also a lot of these guys play for the team and rely on picking up full time work to supplement their income. these jobs are then organised through club sponsors.

undoubtedly the big clubs will still find a way around it, and the lower level clubs will still struggle due to $$$

The points system will be impossible to cheat - but i really hope it doesn't force players into early retirement.
Guys like Blake Mueller who has had a fair few NRL games will pull big points, but guys like Willie Pole'o probably wont - and i know who i would have in my side.
