I was wondering if someone could list Newcastle's side to take on Monaro in the AAMI country championship final. Apparently is was meant to be named in todays newcastle herald?

I'm going out now. I'll get a Herald and have a look.

I know it won't happen, but I see the Briggs brothers are playing in the halves for Macquarie. I'd love to see them given a go for Newcastle - or even better, the Wallace brothers from Wests.

Raymond Terrace's halves Joey Griffiths and Jamie Battye will be the halves. The Wallace and Briggs brothers aren't even in the squad.

Joey Griffiths
Jamie Battye
Todd Pavlou
Ben Donaldson
Danny Vaughan

The article accompanying the team is about how 32 yo Hudson Smith has been called up to replace Dan Quinn due to injury, and how Smith played 6 years at Balmain, and has played in the ESL and for Qld residents, Qld Country, NSW Country, North Coast, Northern Rivers and now Newcastle.

Thanks for that roopy. I actually thought Hudson was older than 32. He seems to have been around forever. He finished playing with Balmain in 1998 after playing 5 years of first grade with them.

I'll be watching Vaughan with interest and I'll ask him if he intends on signing with the Knights as I know they are chasing him. With 5 former first grade players in the side it's a pretty formidable side.

Great game and Monaro underestimated Novocastrian tenacity which cost them the match. Crowd was pretty solid too for a country clash. I'd say about 1000 mark at least, probably closer to 1500.

Danny Vaughan has also been named in County's squad to tour QLD later in the year
