Triple Dally M winner Andrew Johns will be joined by current Test half Brett Kimmorley for a media conference at Express Advocate Stadium Gosford on Monday 31 January at 11am.
The two Novocastrians will be joined by Sharks General Manager Steve Rogers and Knights Football Manager Mark Sargent, as they announce details of their clubs upcoming trial match on Saturday February 26.
Johns, considered the worlds best player, is looking towards the Gosford game as his first hit-out since his season-ending knee injury suffered in round three last year.
Kimmorley meanwhile, will be looking to build on his extremely successful tour of Britain where he steered the Kangaroos to victory in the Tri Nations series final in November.
The match between the Sharks and Knights, which kicks-off at 7.30pm will be the final game for both teams before the commencement of the Telstra Premiership on 11 March.
Speaking today, Sharks coach Stuart Raper said he expected a high quality match.
The Newcastle match will be our last trial before the start of the season, so I expect us to be fielding a team as close to full strength as possible, he said.
It will be an important game for us in terms of trying to put the finishing touches on our preparations before our first match of the season against Penrith.
Knights coach Michael Hagan agreed it would be a barometer on the progress of his squad.
We have had a very good off-season training period, he said.
What we now need to see is that hard work transferred onto the paddock. I would expect both of our trials (Penrith and Cronulla) to give us the type of test that we will need in the lead-up to the season proper.
Both teams are hopeful of attracting strong support from the Central Coast for the match. Tickets for the game will go on sale at Ticketek on Wednesday, February 2. Pricing and availability will be announced at the Press Conference on January 31.
