News On Why Batista Dropped The Title

On this week's special 3-hour WWE RAW, Chris Jericho recaptured the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Batista in a steel cage match. Jericho will now defend the title against John Cena at Survivor Series on November 23rd.

There are a few interesting details behind Batista's short title reign. The main reason Jericho took the title was because WWE did not want to jump right into Batista vs. Cena 2 with no buildup. Jericho is now the heel champion heading into a big showdown with the returning Cena. WWE plans to come back to Cena-Batista in a few months, probably at WrestleMania.

I have heard Batista is not bothered by the title change. The fact that did not get beat cleanly by Jericho (a steel cage escape is less damaging than a pinfall or submission) made the move easier to go along with.

Oh great

So they just give Jericho the title to hold it until they can have Batista and Cena built up properly.

Jericho should go to TNA.

I knew it. Cena would be the World Champion at WM25 and Batista will win the Royal Rumble and challenge him then.

I'd actually like to see more of Batista/Cena. Both workers are blandish, I agree, but it's a relatively fresh feud between the two most over babyfaces on Raw. Would make for a good main event at Mania, even though I don't doubt they'll make 'Tista the heel rather than Cena (who would be far better at it).

What i'd like to see Cena win the belt, Batista or Randy Orton win RR and a triple threat for the title at mania (maybe a unique stipulation match say 3 way last man standing or fall count anywhere/street fight) where the Cena loses the belt to whoever doesn't win the RR prefferably Orton.

at Mania next year
Cena vs Batista for the WHC (Batista qualifies by winning the match at NWO)
HHH vs Edge for the WWE title (Edge wins the royal rumble)

I just got this feeling that the titles might change brands at WM. Thw two big titles that is (WWE and WHC).

The problem Raw has is the exact opposite to SmackDown. Raw has a lot of top heels but only a few top babyfaces, whereas SmackDown has tonnes of top babyfaces and only a few top heels. Raw is definately missing John Cena and SmackDown is missing Edge for interesting storylines.

I disagree on Smackdown, they've got a pretty even balance of faces and heels in the main event on the current roster

HHH
Jeff Hardy
Undertaker

Could Jeff Hardy be slowly turning heel after his outbursts? I think they just want to give him more of a badass edge but who knows.

Love the fact that alot of wrestlers like Miz and Morrison are frequently wrestling on different brands. Gives a lot of diverse and good viewing imo.

Can't say I agree with you Stonecutter in regards to the Miz/Morrison comment. Honestly I believe the WWE can't have it both ways and if they're going to have wrestlers appearing on other shows they may as well just get rid of the brand split. Of course I'm saying this from a creative stand point rather than a business stand point which of course is the point that determines which decisions are made.

Of course the argument the WWE makes is they're ECW wrestlers but I believe ECW should've been treated as a different show from the outset. Instead the WWE just treated it like a third brand rather than an alternative form of sports entertainment and honestly I find their decision deplorable.

Imagine if you will if the WWE strived to make the ECW brand as different as possible to the WWE? I'm talking about presentation, storylines, wrestlers and matches basically the works. There were so many choices the WWE could make and yet they made the wrong one. Shame really.

Cena is the face of the wwe.

After Batista buried him in their last feud you can expect Cena to squash Batista at wrestlemania.

Vince guarantees it.

I disagree. If considering Batista's 4th reign was so short, the WWE will give him a much longer title reign IF he competes in the Heavyweight Championship at WM 25. I predict Cena will win the event at the survivor series in a few weeks time and hold onto it until Wrestlemania where he will lose it to either Batista or Randy Orton *sigh*.
