2TB will you be there at this one. It is a bit excy for the type of fan the Jets attract, I will miss this one due to work committments but did attend the launch and the Manfred Moore function.
Also why is it not at the Bowlers club as they are the major sponsors, close to the city for corporate guests and central for transport?

I cant make it , as live in canberra now. petrol rtn money and the tkt is far too steep for my budget at present to be honest, though would chew a limb off to make it though. But have to save those limited resources for the game of the 2008 calender year thus far. Jets versus the Bears at henson on saturday 14th June.

Your attempt at underestimating the average jets fan financially is amusing though all the same.

I have my "personal " invite Jets centenary year invitation pinned on my pool room wall though.

It is a fact of life that with interest rates and othe rliving expenses in Sydney are out of control and Jets games are inexpensive by comparison to NRL and other events but it is hard to spare the money that is being asked.
Standing on the hill as I have been doing for the past several games soaking up the atmosphere in the great sunshine we have been enjoying it is difficult not to notice more people are now bringing there own food and drink to save money.
It is not meant to disparige Jets fans just a fact given the state of the economy and just out of curiosity how many Henson Park regulars will actually attend the night. I wish I was in Sydney to attend but it just cannot be this time.

The match is held at Petersham Town Hall because; it is a local icon, there is some prestige abou the place and most importantly it is larger than the function venues of our sponsors. It's not as accessible as the city but the event is on a Saturday night so there shouldn't be a rush getting there in the afterwork peak or anything like that.

Regarding the price of the event, I think it is justified. It is a Once in a Century event - the hallmark of our Centenary celebrations - and it is being held at a venue where there are no fixed caterers.

Outsider, in answer to your question "how many Henson Park regulars will actually attend the night?" you raise an interesting point. Generally speaking, our dinners and events attract the same faces regardless of the price but only some of those faces are at the games. Other regular faces include friends/colleagues and coworkers of Directors/sponsors who will purchase entire tables.

I find it difficult to accept that price is the sole determining factor that keeps other faces from coming to the game. Certainly it is a factor but my observations over the years lead me to believe it must be more than that. For example, when we had the Presentation Nights that cost less than $50 including food and grog, there was no marked surge in additional faces - and that was when the economy was in better shape. Other dinners we've had in better economic times that cost around $110 did not see a marked difference in new faces either. The same faces were there plus maybe ten or fifteen. That might be 4% of an average rollup for a season launch. That's almost negligble.

It's not the cheapest night out but then again it's not just any night out - it's a special event and it is worth it. The invites went out a few weeks ago and I've ben putting away a bit each week. We chose to have it on a weekend where the Jets aren't playing. I hope as many Jets fans as possible can make it. It is a night not to be missed.
