Do you ever think the Cowboys golden September run in 2017 did long term damage. Green was starting to fall off by that year but Morgan’s month of madness papered over the cracks big time. It prolonged Green at the time of JT’s retirement compounding the rot even further. Only made the finals once ever since.

The club has been far too loyal to a lot of older players, Matt Scot, Gavin Cooper and Jake Granville being more recent examples. Scott was mooting a move to Newy in early 2017 if we didn't pay up but he did his knee rd2 in Brisbane, so of course we re-sign him........ Gavin Cooper was extended a year even though he was clearly past it, Jake Granville has been rubbish for about 3 straight seasons. I get that you want to have a level of professional respect to guys that helped win a premiership but you also want the same players to know when they're past it and not able to play at the level required to win a premiership.

The CEO up there is 100% out of his depth. Business wise the football club and leaguesy made $9mil profit last season, so they're profitable but the onfield product sans 2022 has been a f**king abomination since 2017. The buck should stop with him as well.

The CoE and stadium are Wagyu but the football being played is chuck steak.

Payten is fine at the moment. Team is 5 wins vs 6 losses, with Wests Tigers at home next week. Outside of the Sharks game, they also haven't been completely destroyed on the park.

Arthur's excuses have to be running out though. Only 3 wins, team has conceded more than 40 points three times this year. Only thing that can save him is if the club clears out the staff around him.

Coach Brad Arthur’s time at the Eels will come to an end, with the club expected to part ways with the coach immediately.
The decision comes after a 48-16 loss to the Melbourne Storm at Magic Round.

Arthur took over at the club as an interim coach in 2012. The high point of his tenure came when the Eels reached the 2022 grand final, a match they lost to Penrith 28-12.
But having failed to make the finals last year, the Eels slumped to their sixth loss in their last seven matches at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.
Their shocking run has come after star halfback Mitchell Moses suffered a foot injury, which has kept him out since round three.
Speaking after the Magic Round loss to the Storm, a defiant Arthur said he believed he was still the man to resurrect Parramatta’s season and “would never walk away from a fight”.
“I still believe in this team, but they’ve got to start to believe in themselves, especially when we’re under a bit of pressure,” he said.
“We’re five minutes after the game, but there hasn’t been any indication from the club towards me. All they want to do is get around us to support myself and the rest of the coaches and the team.
“But at the end of the day, what matters is what we’re doing on the field for 80 minutes and it’s not good enough at the moment.”
Arthur will turn 50 on Tuesday.
