Virtually every sports stadium in the US is funded by this model.

Very few are privately funded or owned.

I like the idea.

Penrith was council owned. Now won't be so in most cases the land is gifted anyway. So not sure an extra tax for those councils is needed

That’s why places like Oakland don’t have a baseball or nfl team because they lose their teams to cities that can afford to fund a new stadium

Under your model the cowboys would’ve never gotten a new stadium funded given the size of the economy

Cities can afford to fund them, the citizens vote to or to not fund them though.

Thats democracy in action then.

It’s free market capitalism

Which means small markets miss out on a team to big places or they have to really pay through the nose
