Nrl is the worlds elite rugby competition

It should have all the elite players in it leaving union with the left overs

Looking at England league gets the dregs and the nrl could benefit hugely

Some of the best English union players have come from a league background. Even offiahs kid is playing union not league
Martin Offiah started in union himself.

12 points deducted from your Best rugby league fan eva!!! Tally.

That’s the point numbnuts we used to get loads of talented union players especially in England like offiah Davies etc

Now not only don’t we not get them guys like Hanley would be going to union

If super league doesn’t have the money to get them then perhaps the nrl will

England France sa and wales could provide a huge number of nrl players and is largely untapped currently even England

Nrl might not stop at 20 teams it’s going to need a lot of talent not just png nz2 to supplement existing pathways

What point? You don't have a point.

You're an argumentive, petty, delusional sycophantic twit who has this obsession with trying to prove how big a rugby league fan you are.

Union is huge in the UK and France. They ain't joining NRL teams no matter how much gushing frothy nonsense you splash around.

N
Those players only jumped codes for $'s. RL at the time could pay them a lot more than RU.

Now me personally Id rather see the NRL spend its revenue on useful things for growing the game, not on trying to entice Union converts by having a silly level salary cap. Most clubs earn less than $50mill, with the NRL grant, still. I wouldnt want to see a cap of $20mill+ until clubs were earning a shed load more than $50mill.

It won’t be a stupid salary cap

Unlike Japanese French or English union it will be purely funded by game revenues and not clubs running at huge losses

And nrl should be paying the highest wages out of any union comp it’s light years ahead of any of them financially

Maybe not the next tv deal but the one after that sure 20 million cap should be a minimum they get too

The nrl already is growing the game across every single market or platform it can

Who expected a push into America like they are

Afl lieing about their tv deal ?

Colour me shocked
Maybe if we gave Sundays FTA game to Fox we might get $640mill?

Clearly a play by Fox to increase subscriptions by not having any, or on delay FTA games on a Saturday allowing them to create Super Saturday as they have done with NRL.

Looks like theyve swapped out Saturday FTA in some states for more Thursday FTA games in every state. They are claiming the amount of FTA games is unchanged in total.

I wonder why its only 3 states? Fox trying to drive subscriptions in those states specifically like they did paying for dolphins to take Broncos off FTA?
Maybe afl is full of bull crap and everyone who believed their bs has no idea

I mean I did tell you that at the time

If the Tasmanian afl side falls over watch for the impact on the tv deal too even though it was never stated

Oh, so now we’re just throwing insults and talking nonsense? Classic move when there’s nothing left to back up the argument.

The NRL hasn’t “forgotten” international talent, it’s already scouting and signing players from England and beyond. The truth is, rugby league isn’t losing players to union; union just throws more money around in certain markets, and at the end of the day, money talks. If Super League can’t compete financially, that’s on them, not the NRL.

And let’s be real! Hanley and Offiah weren’t products of some magic system; they were just freakish talents. The NRL is growing, but it’s doing it in a way that makes sense, not because of some outdated nostalgia for English backs from 30 years ago. Time to move on

what? Basically they are just moving to the NRL Tv system.
Thursday nights FTA and Saturday exclusive to PTV.
difference is we only got $400mill for it and they got $550mill+ for it!

The amount you claimed the afl got has gone down 90 million lol

Afl didn’t disclose how it got that extra money

Turns out it involved

1. Extra round of afl … gather round
2. Extra team
3. More games becoming exclusive for Foxtel

None of which the afl admitted too

At least the nrl is open about the extra content it is adding to get more money and won’t try and disguise it’s actual tv deal behind a cloak of Telstra contra which has a very dubious value

This wasnt even a consideration when the deal was negotiated in 2022.

2. Extra team

Tasmania is expressly not part of the deal according to mclachlan. But it does "contemplate it".

3. More games becoming exclusive for Foxtel

Actually the numbers are more or less the same. Thursday nights have replaced Saturday nights, and instead of missing Sundays when there is a Thursday on, there is now every Sunday, as well as Sunday night matches.

None of which the afl admitted too

They cant see every piece of rubbish youll cough up three years after they do the deal.

Nah see your afl mate is denying they were even part of the deal

I did say at the time and after it the afl was pulling a swifty

Now we know how

oddly enough Mclachlan announced a $942m AFL rights extension for 2023 and 2024.

With cash and contra it came to $935.74m

I swear there were people around here saying that the AFL was telling fibs at the announcement.
