The current tv deal is around 430 million

Nine 120 million
Sky nz 32 million
Foxsports 278 million

With 20 teams,
Women’s origin
U19 origin
Pacific cup
2 less nrl rounds with potential expanded pacified cup

Nine 150 to 175 million
Foxsports (dazn) 350 to 450 million (potential for origin streaming or Monday night football)
Sky nz 40 to 50 million (nz2 as team 20 to come in late during the next tv deal ).

So 500 million cash should be pretty much the lower end of expectations

Its guessed to be between 400-430 million. All Abdo would say was it was more than 400m. Everything else is people guessing. Much like the AFL reporting.

The numbers add up for it to be $400m last year.

I think we would hear about it from those in the know from clubland and so on if it was under.

I guess we see that category in the report to see the jump and guess further

your numbers are wrong.

nine is paying $115mill cash (includes $5mill of radio rights)
sky nz is paying $32mill cash and contra, reasonable guess is around $5mill of this is contra
fox no confirmed amount and as we don’t know the total impossible to know,
if you wanted to make an educated guess based on some assumptions (main one being the $400mill is cash only) current cash deal is somewhere around:
the ch 9 $115mill ($110mill tv only)
sky nz $27mill
fox $ $258mill

New deal yr 1 contra was $34.1mill. An increase of $9.6mill on last year of previous deal.

I do think there is more money to be had from fta than the current $110mill cash ch9 is paying. You’d think origin being in the top 5 rated events every year would have to be worth $30-40mill with female origin growing in popularity as well. That means ch9 is only paying $70-80mill a year cash for 3 games a week and finals.

that seems low. Ch9 are paying nearly half that for a sport that rates massively lower.

with two extra games to sell by the end of the deal could we see the deal after the next one split into packages I wonder? This next deal 2028+ I think we are likely to see the incumbents keep the rights.

could be in the 2033+ deal fta gets 3 prime time first pick games, second fta gets origins, internationals and 2 games a week. And streaming service gets all games?

It won't matter what it is. You will whinge and say it should be more.

I am in the boat that this deal starts at $400m cash.

Depends on the makeup too many unknowns yet. Season make up etc
So you have no idea

Thanks for the contribution

Going to be fun to remind you of your posts when it’s a blockbuster deal and seeing you make up excuses

I mean to be fair, no one really has. at this point way too many variables. Impossible to know anything with certainty for a deal that doesnt start until 2027.

I doubt very much that he wasnts a bad result, its just the evidence points to a less than overwhelming result at present. He'll be as happy as the rest of you if it goes over.

And for the record, so will I. A top peforming NRL makes the AFL get off its lazy ass.

So how many rounds?

Are we moving NRLW too run outside the NRL?

What about selling rights to certain things seperately?

There are many variables that your little brain doesn't understand

Nine own Stan too. That money covers every game. Whereas they only have another network taking viewers.

PVL is close to ch7 through Racing. If they could better the offer it would be done

Correct

WB just thinks the NRL is adding teams to current system. Add all those games would be huge

BUT

All the mail points to cutting up to 5 weeks from the season.

Lack of competition to push the price up aswell
